Gubernatorial Races

I know there's been a lot of hype surrounding the national campaigns, but the races for governor are just as important. Post about candidates in your state, or even other states if you happen to know about 'em.

Personally, even though I'm voting for Obama for Pres, I'm still going with the Republican candidate for governor, Pat McCrory. I can't stand Bev Purdue, largely because she won't hold any one position on anything for an extended period of time. Also, I agree with Pat's stances on unemployment, education, and illegal immigration, all of which Purdue is sadly lacking in, IMO. Plus, Pat has been mayor of Charlotte for about 13 years, and has done a great job with his position. And, of course, he's a Charlotte Checkers fan, which is enough by itself to secure my vote.

I'm sure Josh and maybe even Tanner will have a lot to say on this.

Brad Henry is the current governor of Oklahoma. I voted to reelect him because I agree with his stance on illegal immigration. He actually practices what he preaches, and has worked to make all official state documents printed in English only, even though the courts are trying to keep his laws in limbo until he leaves office in 2010. He also cut spending, and struck down a law that would have forced women to get an ultrasound before an abortion (aka, the "Guilt Law"

(He also makes a habit of saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" on TV, politically incorrect or not. Love that.)

Yeah, he is. Met him at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony a couple of years back.

As far removed from politics as I am (especially American politics, which mean nothing to me and actually confuse the hell out of me 95% of the time) I would have to say that if that guy was in some sort of political office anywhere near me I'd have to vote for him too - he sounds like an awesome bloke. Everyone needs more guys like him around.

Sounds like the kinda guy that if you was ringing out for pizza, and accidentally dialled his number by mistake, would take your order and forward it on to the pizza dudes for you.

Huh Lucas isn't it great when something is legal, someone still always finds a way to get the courts into it just so the will of the people is ignored. If you got to hate this country at any level being a citizen, that would be the one.

**** brad henry. he passed a law that you have to pay to get a printout of your medical records. plus with all the **** about the lottery money?.. he sure as hell didn't handle the MAPS project that well.

**i actually voted for E.Z. Million.. just because i liked his name.
