Think of this as the sister thread to "opinions on drugs". I was getting pissed off that people were lumping beer and drugs in the same category, when they don't belong together.
So here you go guys. Talk it up all you want. But let's leave drugs out of this ok.

^Having had none of either (except for the occasional sip of wine), I reserve judgment. However, I do intend for my first beer to be a Samuel Adams. I want to start off with something rich.
As for alcohol, I don't know where to start. Maybe vodka?
Beer is wonderfully fantastic if you don't drink the crappy kinds. If it's in a can, it'll probably taste terrible.
Hard alcohol depends. I mainly drink for taste and not the result. Vodka and Whiskey make me a happy drunk. Tequila, though I love it, makes me an angry jerk.
It really depends on personal tastes, but I recommend Carlsberg, Spaten (and Spaten Optimator), Guinness, Tsingtao, Fat Tire (and the other New Belgium beers), any Rogue beer, Sleeman's Canadian, Weihenstephaner (I think I spelled that one right), Sam Adams can be pretty good, and yeah, just try any of them that you can. I'm sure others'll have a lot more suggestions.
I've never been a huge beer kid, but I've warmed up to them this year. I still restrict myself to light (on taste, not alcohol!), dry beers like pilsners, and I don't drink more than a few in a row, but they're pretty good. But generally, I'm a spirits guy - bourbon, preferably, but I also enjoy tequila. And I'll take pretty much anything but vodka straight if it's offered.
Hate beer with a passion. For some reason, it's just the taste and the carbonation that throw me off. That's not to say I won't ever have beer again, but for me, like wine, it really is an acquired taste.
Liquor, on the other hand, I'm all OK with. Like most of you, I drink it for the taste. Scotch, Bourbon, or Baileys (mmmmm) are all in my books.
I drink for a buzz/taste. Hell, I got buzzed yesterday after the frosh week event but couldn't find the "I'm Drunk" thread
Rickard's Red is a nice beer. Nice, smooth taste. I actuall bought a couple tall boys on Thursday cause I wanted to try so new stuff; Sapporo, Tuborg, Becks and Stella Artois. My roommate took the Tuborg but I had the Stella and Sapporo. They're both quite nice, but I like the Sapporo more cause it reminds me of Rickard's Red
Some guy said that last week, lawl. He was like, "The only thing gayer than that drink's name is paying $17 for it!" Which would be a fair criticism, except that I rarely pay that much; I was out with a few mates in the city for the first time in a while and splashed out on a once-off, super-expensive festival of fruity deliciousness. And it was delicious... it was mostly blueberry and mint, but tasted quite a lot like butter menthol, to my childish delight.
wine is an acquired taste but the 'drunk' you get will be any others hands down. especially if it it's a fine merlot.
alcohol.. i usually prefer either mezcal or goldschlauger. a nice mix i make is, smirnoff orange twist with live wire mountain dew. i also like liquid crack.. i part jager. 1 part peppermint.. i part goldschlager cinnamon schnapps.

Now, as mentioned before, alcohol is a drug, but one the body can completely flush out of your system provided you don't go ****ing stupid with it. I have one, maybe two big sessions per year, and the rest of the time just one or two pints a week. Drinking like this guarantees you won't become addicted or dependant on alcohol, and provides your body enough time to flush it out and leave no damage to your body.
However, there are those who drink solely to get drunk. These people deserve to have their healthy livers removed and given to people with genuine problems, cos they're just wasting theirs.
