Havens Corners Church in Blacklick, Ohio offers a sermon on its sign about Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" song.
Said the Rev. Dave Allison, pastor of the 100-member church: "It's not something that is really a shock if you're a scriptural person. We meant that as a loving warning to teens. … The Scriptures tell us that you should not do what the song tells you to do. The Scriptures are not ambiguous on this issue."
Some neighbors (who don't and do know the song in reference) have been sending in complaints. Said Wendy Olinski of Reynoldsburg: "It was obvious: 'If you're gay, you're going to hell.' At first I have to say I laughed hysterically because I was shocked. But that's going way too far. It's just rude."
Thats in the US, but I had a run in with a lil homophobia a few weeks ago when I started my new job. Im a stock handler for the fragrances and cosmetics department of the bay, and the guy training me referred to all the other guys in the department as fags, and said he was the only straight guy. I just find it funny how people just assume the people theyre speaking to, are just like them.

hahahaha. i hate that song 'i kissed a girl.' i wouldn't want my girl to be kissing on other girls anyway..
as for that guy at your work. alot of people do assume the people they are speaking to are just like them. it really makes them come off as asses. maybe he's just a self hating gay though.

What I find amusing is that 90% of homophobes bang on about how gay men are dirty and filthy and an abomination, then go home and spank themselves raw over two or three ladies munching rug.

Im pretty sure he isnt gay. One day him and this other guy in receiving wouldnt stop talking about all the women that worked in the store and how they were going to sleep with them. I think they expected me to join in, but all I could do was stand there and smile.

Okay, dude, seriously, if you want to REALLY **** with them, just one day, when its quiet, and you're just stood around, just sigh really loudly and say "Goddamn what I wouldn't give for a big juicy c-ck right now" and then S-L-O-W-L-Y turn your head to look at them, possibly with half a smile on your face.

He could be using that talk as a cover you know The only good thing that can come from his attitude is that at least you already know who you are dealing with. I will never understand homophobia.
2 of the 3 other guys on my shift are gay. The one who isn't is a homophobe.
It's never mattered to me. Gay customers will come in and sometimes hit on me. It's funny, they find out I'm not gay and there's no problems.
There was this one like 60 year old dude who tried to grab my junk and said, "You should come back to my apartment, 'cause I have a pool, and can give you whiskey, and we can put on Brokeback Mountain and go to town."
No lie. Needless to say I went into the back and pretended to do sidework while someone else took care of him. He didn't give the waitress any trouble, yet he grabbed at my junk. That's going too far. Other than that, I haven't had any problems.

LOL. You got a taste of what women have dealt with for thousands of years. That is just a bit rude. Very nice of you to just leave the room instead of kicking his ass out.
It seems ridiculous in this day and age for homophobes to be so common. I guess it will take time to be accepted. Hell I find it sad that interracial couples still get dirty looks in public occasionally. Sad world.
What I hate the most is straight guys who think that all gay guys want to duck them, and people who think that you become gay after having a bad experience with a woman or man. Or because you're not man enough to take charge of a relationship.

^Most homophobia stems from the first example there. I don't think it's something to be worried about really, and I don't know why people are so afraid about that.
What's the status on the Don't ask Don't tell policy in your army. Are any efforts being made to get rid of it or preserve it?
Efforts on both ends (one to get rid, the other to maintain the status quo), but ultimately its low on the priority list, given the whole Iraq War, economy, and myriad of other large issues we have to deal with.
I find myself literally just waiting for the old fart generation to die off so we can get **** moving.
