I've watched the trailer about 22 times by now. They should just call it "Smooth Criminal: The Movie" because that's the impression I got.....and that's fucking AWESOME!

Ditto. I know I'll forget, and since I live in "The Nation's Reddest State", there's only one theater (of a possible 17) showing it in all of Tulsa (so far). Hell, only five were showing Ponyo. Demand should be pretty big for the local fans. I'm renting a white suit for premiere night to go with my white fedora.

Where did you see the list of theaters? Of did you just check locally?

Welp I never did get the reminder for tickets going on sale...stupid website. Fandango said that you could buy tix at 12:01am local time. Well I logged in and found that by 11:30pm tonight all tickets were sold out for theaters near me. Ended up going to movietickets.com and found tickets for opening night. Woot.

Sorry for not replying. Didn't see it. I just called a couple of local theaters to find a showing. Out of 20 theaters in a 30 mile radius, only three are showing it. I chalk it up to the fact that I live in reddest state in the US. If the music doesn't involve Carrie Underwood or George Straight, they aren't interested.
The initial showings are like a day away now. I found a white suit to rent (still trying to find the exact one for Halloween....red pinstripes are a pain to find), but the hat has been missing. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find "the hat", and I refused to settle. Long story short, I drove downtown and found this obscure little hat shop and they had one white gangster fedora in the back. Didn't look right. Bent the brim down just right, and bingo. Found my hat. Cost WAAAAAY too damn much, but it was worth it.
I can't wait to see that. Just one last time. I'll probably cry like a girl through it.
So...I just got back from the movie. I'm not a hateful person, nor am I one to think bad things about people, but seeing this makes me wish I could travel to another dimension where MJ is stil alive, or travel back in time to prevent that doctor that killed him from ever having been born. My eyes are still red and sore. Its not so much that I'm bothered by the thoughts of what might have been (the concert) as I am by knowing that what I saw on the screen was the greatest performer/singer/songwriter of all times performing the greatest songs ever written for the very last time. I don't know if I can ever listen to "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" ever again. That tore my heart out. It was so beautiful.
Hell, I cried through Thriller (corpse brides are awesome times forever). That's something because I've never cried all the way through a movie before. That band is amazing. Truly amazing. I've gotten teary eyed before (like Titanic or the end of Episode III), but never actually cried through an entire movie.
He looked so good in that pimp suit one last time. I never through I'd be fortunate enough to see him in it again.
I just got back from my showing as well. Although I didn't nearly as emotional as you Lucas (didn't even get misty-eyed) it was a emotional trip. To think of what the concert would have been is crazy. Oddly the theater wasn't even sold out for the show as there were plenty of available seats.
I'm tempted to go see it again before the 2 weeks are up. Can't wait for the Blu-Ray release.

I've heard rave reviews about the film, and even Oscar buzz. Maybe the movie will be up for Best Documentary, or even Best Picture. (they did expand the Best Picture category for 10 film nominees)
I reckon I'll go out and see this in the next few days. I'm not really big into concert/documentary films, but I do like Michael Jackson, and I've spent the last few months wondering what exactly would have happen had he been able to complete this new concert tour.
As for the Best Picture category-- now that it's been expanded to 10 film nominees, I'm curious to see what films will slip in. There's the potential for really random stuff to get a nom now.
