Do you go to the Cinema to watch the big movies or do you wait for the movies to be released on DVD?

I'm the later. Going to the movies these days is just too costly. Minimum $10 a ticket + Food, you're looking at a fair bit of money (considering it is a movie).

I wait till I can hire it on DVD first. It only costs $3 to hire a new release DVD (and when you rent two you get a third one free, so we normally get that deal. Can't go wrong with three DVD's for $6), and I can watch it a few times before taking it back. Also whenever I go there is always some punk ruining the movie by joking around distracting me. I also like the special features that DVD's offer :D I'd sacrifice a saving of x amount of dollars and special features over a big screen and nice sound and a random teenage being a punk.

And to answer your question, Yes I am cheap :D

(all prices are Australian Dollars)

I like to go to the theater so I know what I'm getting into when I buy a DVD. Most of the time I know I'm not going to like a movie, so I don't go to the theater that often.

DVD definetely. Nothing better than watching DVD with a pizza! I go to the cinema a lot too though

Last movie I saw at the cinema's was Meet The Parent. Last one I actually paid for was Jumanji....and that was spoilt by one of my mates moronic friend lighting one of the chairs on fire.

lol,

Going to the movies in NZ is quite cheap, which is why I go to it so often. You're looking at ~$7-$8 for a ticket, which is about $3-5 US

I'm more of a cinema guy, both sound and picture quality is far better than home.

I don't resist a good DVD and a pizza though :)

I'm both. Cinema is good for some films, others are best on DVD.

I agree with Matt. I see movies I'm really interested in at the cinema while others I wait for on DVD. Movie tickets are cheap where I live, around $4.50 in my little New York town. The highest costing tickets are only 6.00. So cinema is a great choice here.

I cannot recreate the cinema experience at my house--I have a 20in tv with its substandard speakers. Where I live the ticket prices are $4.50 before 6pm and $6.50 afterwards so I find myself going quite often.

That and everytime I want to watch a movie at my house someone always disturbs me every 5 minutes or so; at the movie theaters around here most people seem to be socially conscience so the movie remains enjoyable.

I normally wait until it's on DVD, unless I'm out with Madison, but we haven't gone to the movies in a while... we normally go get food or something that's not the movies.

It depends on what movie for me. If it's something with great visuals and sound I will go to the movies, but if it's something like a simple adventure movie I'll wait for it on DVD.

Both for me too. Prime example: Lord of the Rings 3, I'll definitely be watching at the cinema and will definitely be buying when it comes out on DVD. However, I'd have to say that I go out the the cinema more often than I buy DVDs.

Hate to sound repetitive, but both. I love going to see movies in the theater. It can be expensive, but if I really want to see the movie, it's worth it. I love movies and I just can't see waiting to see some movies on DVD. On the other hand, some movies I do wait to see. I love DVD's as well, there's just so much information on them. I love extra features and commentaries. I also have trouble sometimes paying attention for an entire movie in the theater without talking. That annoys some people. I can't help it, ADHD, so that's why I like DVD's. You can pause them, rewind, fast forward. Also, sometimes people are f'cking annoying in the theaters.

i love the theater. i'd spend days there if i could. i also love dvds. however, i feel that certain films just HAVE to be seen the way they were intended (and that doesn't mean with widescreen on dvd, either). case in point: LotR. this is an event, and it's simply a beautiful film to behold in its majestic wonder. on a smaller scale case: lost in translation. this movie is beautiful as well, albeit much scaled down from the former. i think that it's simply respectful to see the films in theaters the way the artists wanted them to be seen, unless of course it's shite like Final Destination 2 or The Cat in the Hat...or a recent Eddie Murphy movie (although 'haunted mansion looks decent enough). those will wait until video, if ever.

I always try and watch the big release movies in theaters at least a couple times. I really enjoy the theater. The big screen, surround sound... But I also really enjoy my DVDs. Give me all that extra footage, deleted scenes, and behind the scenes stuff and I am set to go! If only there was a way to get the extra DVD stuff in a theater... now that would be Movie Heaven! (And free popcorn)

I like both... but I'm more of a DVD man myself. The quality of the cinema's anywhere near where I live is too poor for me to be able to enjoy properly. I have a bigg arsed widescreen TV, and a dolby digital/DTS sound system... but usually I visit my mate who has a projector and the same sound setup - DVD quality, Cinema size (plus you can pause for toilet breaks and don't have to pay outrageous prices).
