Has anyone heard about this new upcoming console? It looks strange and the controllers look totally uncomfortable, and I think they say that it will be able to play computer games?

Much like the N-Gage, without the proper support it will totally bomb.

You got that right, Sam.....

The Phantom has 1000's of titles because it is going to like run any PC title. It is a PC in a box that connects to a TV.

And we all thought the XBOX was just a stripped down PC. This thing doesnt even have a CD rom drive!

Phantom will be a PC in a box.

10/100 Mbps network
802.11b wireless
DVD-ROM
nVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
Windows XP [sort of]
Pentium 4
512 MB ram

I will beleive it once I see it (I know there are pictures but that is not enough, they are all computer made images) Real proof- that is, once it hits stores and a web site or magazince reviews it.

Where did that come from? The phantom has been floating around long before the FX5900...

GBA... the 100GB hard drive is not rumor, but indeed true.

And the Phantom is definitely going to blow. Those pictures of it in action we saw last week made the console look alright, but, it's still going to be the biggest flop for a home console since the 3DO.

Crap, and I thought my 40GB hard-drive was big

The Phantom is dead, long before it's launch.

Some facts:

- You can't buy it in the stores, only over internet.

- It's glued shut, and protected some sort of security thing that makes it useless if it's opened.

- It can be upgraded, just like a pc, but you'll have to send it back to the company to do so.

- IT'S ABOUT 4 TIMES THE SIZE OF AN XBOX!!

- It'll run most computer games, but none exclusive at the moment.

- To get a game, you have to download it from the internet.

- It doesn't have a CD-Rom OR a DVD-drive.

- The Controllers and keyboards are made by Logitech.

It's a PC damnit! And it sucks!

Good God and I thought a X-BOX was huge

Bighamm

Is it really 4 times bigger than the X-box??

FoxHimself

Indeed it is! I'll say it may be even bigger.

It's enormous!

The company in my opinion will fail before it even comes out.

Who told you all this information? I don't recall seeing it at www.infiniumlabs.com or www.phantom.net , but I haven't checked recently?

heh, it's some dodgy money laundering scheme i believe, the guy who runs Infinum Labs is definatly a shady character, i read this big thing about him and all the companies he has been at the helm of, all very dodgy. i don't have the link with me, because it was on another forum and i just read then closed it. either way the phantom is decidedly dodgy and a wee bit suspect.

Shoxx

Yeah, watch that within a year they'll shut the servers off and everyone will be screwed.

GBA

Yeah, I think that too. I don't think they have it planned out as well as they should've.

It's on Penny Arcade, they were at a conference with the people behind the Phantom.

And the picture is here: http://www.geocities.com/mdhtter256/IMG_0265.jpg

GBA, see my post to see how you get it to work.

Anyways, that thing is about as big as my PC! (My PC is huge!)

Ok. That thing scares me, it's bigger than my PC. But I like the silver color on it.

Think how expensive it will be! Who would want to pay $600 American for a video game console?

Xbox is gonna look like a walk in the park, if this is released...cause Xbox is gonna look better.

Who in gods name needs 100 GB worth of space? and on a gaming console for Christ sakes! My computer's 40 GB hard drive works fine for all the different tasks and programs it runs and has to have saved on. no system on earth needs to have a 100 GB hard drive. Xbox's 8 GB hard drive works just fine for holding all the music and content downloads it does

Its not exactly a console. Its a "home media player" (Can't think of anything else to describe it). Its basically a TiVo that can play .mpeg's and such (I think?). And it just happens to be able to play PS/2 games.

Also, I would like a 100 gig HD for my Xbox and a modchip so I would never have to buy another game again.

Of course, Sony is making it. And it does play PS/2 games...
Its being marketed as top-of-the-line TiVo type machine with the ability to play PS/2 games, and not a upgraded PS2 with the ability to record shows and play other media files.

What the hell are you talking about?

The Phantom is made by Infinium Labs. And it doesn't play PS2 games!
We're not talking about the PSX.

Sony isn't making it, and it won't play ps2 games. Ifit's reall 4 times bigger than an xbox, then the 10 people who buy this are going to need to drag it into their living room on a crane
