Come on, who didn't love this machine? If you say "me, I hated it", then turn around and get the hell out these forums right now.
*that was a joke btw*
I got bored and hooked it up for some old school Shadows of the Empire! Man I love that game. I remember seeing the previews for it in Nintendo Power and craving it sooo bad. I got it for Christma, and still play it to this day.
Since I've been playing a lot of True Crime, Clone Wars, and Jedi Academy, I let my sister borrow it.
Any fond memories for you guys.
(I have more fond memories that I'll post later, like Goldeney and Mario)

Of course, I LOVED the N64! My first game for it was of course: Goldeneye 007.

I loved the N64 too, it was my first ever console! My favorite game, I remember, was Paper Mario; that was a good one! I sure hope they re-release it.

If you liked Paper Mario, I must insist that you get Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga!
I've played 6 hours into it and it is just like Paper Mario.
The Nintendo 64 had great titles. It was first with 4-controller ports for 4-player action. Games like Mario Kart, Perfect Dark, and Goldeneye ROCKED with 4 people.

N64 is still played in my house. Of course its play time might go down a bit because Mario Kart Double Dash is upon us.

I skipped the N64 for the Playstation and I still don't regret it. Although I would buy the N64 if it was under 10 dollars somewhere. The cartidges were annoying...

Yes I did! That's what friends are for.. to spend their hard earned 70 dollars on unnecessary cartridge-based games for a system that put out 5 good games a year. So you get all the fun of playing the best games without the sadness of paying all that money ;)

N64 ruled. For one thing, it started the "4 controller ports from the get-go" thing that's a standard now (except for PS2 :p). It had the first open 3D game (Super Mario 64). And it had that old Nintendo charm. I played those Pokemon Stadium games A LOT, building the ultimate teams for each cup. Oh, yeah, it had the original Smash Bros game, which was awesome, too. But still, I'm glad that Nintendo console games aren't like 60 bucks anymore.
How much are their N64 where you are? Here you can't get them new you have to go into a second hand store. They're around $40 here NZ, I think.

Conker has to be one of the greatest platforms ever, imo. It had a perfect system of shooting incorporated into it that made for a kickass multiplayer.
As for Goldeneye, I remember the summer when I rented it. I played it every single minute I was awake (and not at school) until it had to go back. The next day, when I was standing on my front porch with my friend, I swear to jesus that I could hear the Goldeney Theme playing. Friend thought I was crazy.
People in my school think I'm crazy because I own a Gamecube.

Haha, you know what's funny? I didn't really like the N64 when it was in it's "Prime" (I still see it as Nintendo's weakest mainstream system--no, Virtual Boy was NOT mainstream)
But now, many years after it's death, I've really gotten into some of the games. I wish that I hadn't been so stubborn and neglected it back then. One refusal to buy a console that really came back to bite me in the @##...

Christmas of 96' rocked. Thats when I remember getting N64. I actaully didn't expect to get it, I opened the "SNES' shaped box that was on top of a "large" box, first. I then screamed at my parents in my high-pitched voice "c'mon I DON"T HAVE A N64, why'd you GIMMME this FOR!!!!" (it was MArio 64)
Then my father replied, "Why don't you open the big one on your lap stupid!"
Ah, to my surprise it was the Nintendo 64. Soon my collection of games would grow to 67 games!! HARHRHAHRHA. I loved the n64, nintendo just would've been better off right now if they made it CD-format. :D

I hated N64 and am not afraid to admit it. It seemed like its best games were all first gen (as in the first ones released) and even those i didnt love that much. Dont get me wrong, Goldeneye and OoT are two of the greatest games ever made and there was a hand full of others that were pretty good, but only being able to name about 10 really good games over the course of 5 years is a failure in my mind
I was just constantly disappointed by that system for somereason.

I for some reason loved it... Mario Kart and GoldenEye. I cant think of any 2 games me and friends played more and more of as the days went by. Just those 2 games with Mario 64, all those wrestling games also, made N64 a must system for fun.

I remember first getting it and getting frustrated at not being able to tie the walkers legs together in Shadows of the Empire and gave up, then my dad when on and completed half the game.

Ah yes I fondly remember renting Goldeneye every weekend for 4 months straight to play 4-player with my friends......for some reason I never bought it just rented it weekly, but I did finally get it for Christmas that year.

Well here is my list of 10 over the 5 years:
- Goldeneye and Perfect Dark
- Conker's bad Fur Day
- Mario Kart 64
- Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Ocarina Of Time
- Super Mario 64
- Wave Race 64
- Excitebike 64
- Banjo series
Theres at least 10 more great games if not more that was released. Of course thats my opinion, anybody agree with me on this?

I think that the n64 rocked and angry libreal and white guy are people whose proper nam im not going to say because im not sure how young the people in these forums are. The N64 rocked and the Playstation was for Q****s and F**S I mean, ocarina of time is the best game ever. I remember getting my n64 and super mario 64. I remember because i played it all day. Oh and i want to add Jet force gemini to the list above. That game was tight, and its too bad it din't sell well. It seems a lot like metroid prime, but not as good, and in 36d person perspective

the n64 was 5 years of anguish. How long after initial release date did OoT finally come out? Im pretty sure it was about 2 years afterwards. The problem with N64 is that only nintendo was developing for it so you only got 1 good game a year, thats it. Not to mention the plethora of delays. Delay after delay; each new delay was like another dagger into my heart, especially since it was the only current system i owned. Its entire life span was one long drought, not sure what i would have done if not for Rare.

Why is it that in all your posts that deal with other consoles, you end up bashing them and calling the users homosexual? FYI, the word queer literally means "abnormal". You DO know that a larger number of people bought the PSX, right? How can a majority be considered abnormal? You really must be bullied at school to be so bitter about things like this. What an attitude for a 12 year old... Why do you have to be so narrow-minded? It's about the games, not the company that makes them, and Nintendo's consoles aren't the only ones to hold good games. You really need to open yourself to the rest of gaming, because being so stubborn will only give you half of the experience.
By the way, what do you people think are the best games for N64? I'm looking for mostly single player games, but 2-player is good too. I ask because I'm thinking of buying an N64 and I want to know what to buy besides what I already know (Conker, Goldeneye, F-Zero X, Mario Kart, Perfect Dark, 1080)

Ya that kid does need to shut up
Anyways, i strongly suggest getting Goldeneye over Perfect Dark, GE has a GREAT single player game while PD is just good. Also im assuming you either have Ocarina of Time for GC or just forgot to put it in that short list cause obviously thats a great game as well. You might also want to look into Super Smash Bros (if you dont have it for GC). Also, 2 other GREAT games are Star Fox and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (even if you aint into star wars). Also, i think Banjo Kazooie is better than Conker unless you are lookng for that more mature theme, either one is a fine choice tho
hope i could be of some assisstance....
Liking a console doesn't make you gay. There is something wrong with him.

I already own OoT for gamecube, as well as SSB:M, and I've played most of the games you've mentioned as well, except for Banjo Kazzoie/Tooie and that Star Wars game. I'll look into those ones. Thanks.

I didn't read all these post and have no clue what's going on other than talk about the N64. In my opinion, the N64 was Nintendo's 2nd worst system, the Virtual Boy being the first.
Game and Watch sucked harder.

You can't really count it as a system tho, because nobody refers to the GBA as a system.

Great system but, it fail beacuse the didnt use CD for the games

Not really (you could almost say not at all, though it was an issue)
The biggest problem with the N64 was, back then, 3D was "shiny" and "new", so everyone was busy making 3D games without worrying much about quality. Buck bumble, chameleon twist, damn, even castlevania (although I am one of the few who actually liked those games on n64)
It was a transitional step for the console game industry. Someone was bound to get hurt, and Nintendo happened to be the one to get stepped on.

Hey, Buck Bumble was not a terrible game!... it was average. As for Chameleon Twist, the only thing wrong with it was one of the worst cameras in videogame history IMO
Just Gabriel
11-27-2003, 01:01 AM
Haha, the only fun part about Buck Bumble was the 2-player soccer minigame :D (and even that got boring after awhile)
And yes, the main problem with chameleon twist was the camera angles...
I think every 3D platformer should have a controllable camera (not like Sonic Adventure, which let you LOOK around, but not actually move while the camera angle was changed--that was quie annoying)
