What is yur favorite Final Fantasy game in the main series? Mine would definetely have to be FFVII. On the bottom of my list would either be FFVIII or FFX.

I say either FFI, FFIV, or FFVI. Final Fantasy had a great story despite being very limited technology-wise, and has really passed the test of time (I still play it to this day)
Final Fantasy IV also had a great story (with some good plot twists), and had some great gameplay with tons of available characters.
And FFVI, again, amazing story, nice variation in characters, and good lasting appeal.

Final Fantasy VII is probably next, but I say it was somewhat overrated (great game, but not as good as people say--it's still one of my favorite games, so don't mistake my words here)
This was probably due to the fact that it was the first "mainstream" Final Fantasy (maybe even first mainstream RPG) and was the first with 3D graphics.

As much as my friends hate it, it is still FF VIII.

Rinoa, Squall and Edea? Please, they own you.

Final Fantasy VIII takes my vote.

Even though I love 7, I've only owned 8 and I enjoyed playing on it

VII is milestone that is why I vote for it. It created "mainstream" gaming and set all kinds of new standards.

I love Final Fantasy VII's storyline, i've never seen a game with one as good as that before, so that would be my favorite... Final Fantasy III (VI) comes pretty damn close though

While I don't think it's the best, I don't see why so many people disliked VIII, I enjoyed it quite a lot :/

I don't know why FFIII is on there, it never came to American shores.

I like FFVI, it is really fun.

Yep, FFVI for me. It had the best story/charas (Mwe, he, he!), and it was the pinnacle of Nobuo Uematsu's musical career, IMO (gotta love Kiss Me or Dancing Mad).

Second place would be FFX - as far as I'm concerned, it was the first one to pick up where the PSOne games fell off.

i agree with that wholeheartedly...if you mean it picks up where the psone games should've started...that last sentence is kind of vague in its meaning...probably due to its structure...but i agree. X's great.

IX, GOD I love that game. It's a tragic love however. I had played it for 50 hours, 50 HOURS! Somehow, the memory card completely erased itself. Gone, all gone. I felt empty inside for like a week. I hadn't even left the planet yet, I level up A LOT! I still have yet to beat it. Maybe I'll do it over Christmas break or this summer.

EDIT: Wasn't VI just III or something like that? I don't think I ever really played either.

FF3 in the US...for when it came out for the SuperNes was FF6 in japan....they skipped 3,4,5....and brought 6 as FF3...
If you haven't noticed how suddenly from FF3 it jumped to 7 in the US....
But now FF6 is available as FF6 and not FF3 in the US....now for the question
FF6 has to be my fav....the Celes song really got to me too....Uematsu knows his stuff...

But FF6 sure is the best of them all..hell..it didn't even have a main character....and there was so much to do in it that it's the best in my opinion...
FF5 should come close...for it's class system...

On the bottom of my list would be FFX

Yeah, I liked that there wasn't one particular main hero (although Terra was pretty close to it).

Sorry, I meant that I didn't enjoy the PSOne games as much. They were still good, but didn't do it for me the way that the SNES ones did.

Final Fantasy VII done it for me. It was far superior to the others in my opinion.

I'd have to say FFIX. It was the first I ever played and owned (got it 3 days after me PSOne). But FFVIII is a close 2nd, cuz of Squall (who is me)

I haven't played any FF games since the SNES, but i loved FFIII, the storyline was awsome and the gameplay factor was great. It's my all time Fav.

You know, in the Japanese version of FFVI, Terra had to deal with things like suicide and teenage pregnancy. We missed out on so many of the mature themes. :'(

^^ By which I mean the US. Over *here* (Australia), we didn't get the SNES Final Fantasy games at all. Or Chrono Trigger. Bloody Square, PAL-o-phobics!
