this is going to be sweet ***, but how is it going to work? No C-stick or Z-button? maybe an addon controller. Now I have to buy a wireless router.

This game alone is going to rock the ds online multiplayer. I'm so glad I have wifi.:P
the L button I would imagine to be used as the Z button since the L button on the 64 wasnt used.

then what would we use for the A and B buttons? I suspect the ABXY would be the C-button set-up.

The source GCAdavnced.com, you imagine the fun that all we fans had with the N64 version, you imagine the same endless fun but ina handheld version, let me think SWEETA.

well I don't remember what the c-buttons did but I don't think it was anything. But as for online play you guys need to calm down nintendo has NEVER said online and the DS in the same sentence. All we have is 802.11b but that could just be used for LAN games over a home network witch is very posible.
last time I checked...I recall hearing Reggie say play friends time zones away...

They had to hype the machine at E3. He said it's possible, not that they're going to implement it in their games.

When you get via the WiFi to a nearer HotSpot you automatic get Online to the net and then you can play with people from all over the world who a nearer to a hotspot aswell.

the C-buttons were to strafe and aim without using the aim button. Of course the DS will be online because then who is going to have 8 NDS's in one room or over one network(campus) with a similiar game? Just wait and see its not too long.

if is online or wife, the same, the matter is that we are gonna be able to play goldeneye with people around the world finally.

I really don't know what to think anymore for the wi-fi, but it would be a shame if they couldn't use it in a game like this one !!!!!!! pleazzzzzz make it happen EA !

WiFi is the internet but wirelessly. Hotspots are places that give out a wireless connection.

But all it has is 802.11b does not mean it will go on the internet has the ability to but does not mean it will. You don't even have to use 802.11b for the internet I use it all the time to transfer files between computers. The only thing we have heard is that it is "possible" to play people in different time zones. And you all do not have to have the same game to play against each other, you can just transfer part of the game over for mulit-player like the gba but now that the system will have a bunch more ram you can have much bigger games transfered over, its rumored to be 8mb witch is equal to super mario 64 whole game, so there would be no problem there. But I can see LAN games happening as soon as the system launchs, I think that would still be pretty cool to be able to play people that are all on the same network, like an office or school campus. The problem is with online play doesn't there have to be a server and last time I checked servers were not free...

If this game is indeed coming, folks.... lets be realistic with eachother and look at 2 point of views.
Point of view A:
-EA / Nintendo will make this multiplayer 2-16 via close range connection, but not WiFi compatible for their own foolish reasons.
Point of view B:
-EA/Nintendo will take the extra step and make this WiFi compatible, setting the stage for all other publishers to follow and thus making WiFi implementation a standard on DS games.
---
It is obvious that when SEGA announces Phantasy Star Online DS for Nintendo DS, it will include WiFi connections. That is almost a given.... SEGA is cool like that.

....and thats why nintendo needs to tell us what is going on !!!!!! WE NEED GOLDENEYE ONLINE !!!!!!!
Da Ruckus
08-25-2004, 02:56 PM
Servers aren't that expensive, especially for a big company. Doesn't matter if Nintendo will make it online, someone will because it has all the parts in one complete package. So some third party may make a web browser or Nintendo might do it themselves, time will tell.

Nintendo needs to withdraw it's membership from the Amish sect and get online.
Lovebird
08-25-2004, 03:01 PM
i agree...though i'm not a huge fan of online, it's too expensive for me, but if you can give me good online, for really cheap....i'm sold. as most of you know, my computer, internet service, and amount of cash i have sucks right about now, however, i just made 175 by selling some magic cards...but anyway, nintendo better get their wheels turnin with online...

They need to make servers and stuff for this. Unless they implement proper online, you're going to have to wait for Warp Pipe DS.
Reggie even said in a recent interview that none of Nintendo's games are immedietly going to be online. All the E3 stuff was hype and possible features.

People have their own servers too, you can buy them for pretty cheap.

Why can't EA do this (online stuff)?
Cheese0089
08-25-2004, 04:20 PM
Because they probly want nintendo to start everything up so they do not have to spend as much money on it
Reallynotnick
08-25-2004, 04:20 PM
well if you have to pay then no way am I going to go online unless it is like $2.50 a month or cheaper. But I would perfer for it to be totally free cuz if it were I would go and pick up phantasy star online for gamecube and be gamming away. Money is the whole problem here.
Cheese0089
08-25-2004, 04:24 PM
10 bucks a year and i would be so happy i would do 20s a year but like 10 bucks a months just sucks in 2 years that $240 you can probly buy DS and a game for that much

Nintendo knows they screwed up big time GCN online. Since that wasn't as big userbase as the gameboy crowd they shrugged. Now they have hyped it off of playing online so they must include it the easiest way, and most affordable way. People don't pay for PC games online so why do they have to pay for console games.
Cheese0089
08-25-2004, 07:09 PM
see what i like is how blizzard made a deal with AT&T so that there online games are free if nintendo could do something like then everybody should be happy
Just Gabriel
08-25-2004, 08:18 PM
See, the problem I don't think Nintendo sees is that online ability sells--whether or not the people will actually use it or not. Merely the ability to go online makes an object more attractive, as well as a game. That's one reason a lot of people I know went PS2 or, especially, Xbox--because you can play it online (the only GC games online are also available on Xbox... with better features...). Few people I know actually took their consoles online, but it is another reason to buy one thing and not another.

Right on with the ABXY buttons as the C-button set up.
The B button was used for weapon select, which I assume would be handled via the touch screen. just move your finger across the weapon you want to equip. Which I imagine they would also use the touch screen for a radar, in Multi play and possibly even (though probably not as useful) in single play. Assuming the action takes place on the top screen.
The A button was used as the "action" button (flipping switches, opening doors.) Either the select button (located just above the abxy buttons) could be used for this, or they could allocate the right margine of the touch screen for this function. Personally I think the Select button solution sounds more likely though.
Da Ruckus
08-25-2004, 10:38 PM
Im pretty sure the A button was weapon select and the B button was the action. They could always make an attachment button that hooks into the stylus port and acts as a Z button.
COTTON
08-25-2004, 10:43 PM
Oops, sorry 'bout the A-B button function switcheroo on ya. I think, as someone already mentioned, the L button would be used in place of the Z, 'cause the L button on the N64 wasn't used in Golden Eye (unless you used a different control set up.) The R button function would remain the same though.

I think it will support wireless internet. Just because Nintendo's own dev. teams arent supporting it doesnt mean that big companies like EA and Ubisoft (who can afford to set up large scale online gaming networks) won't support it.

I still do think it will happen. BTW, GCA stole their post from www.nintendo-evolved.com Seth decided not to include a source in his article which is pretty bad of him. And then when I talked to him, he claimed the article as his article....

Haha, looks like GCA needs to get their news posting priorities right. Take a look over at CE (who I used to think we worse than GCA, but GCA has pulled right ahead) where they have posted a DS manual:

Agreed. Funny thing happened the other day. I was playing Halo with 8 other people and all of a sudden I realized how much more fun it would have been to be playing GE64. I honestly think that it had more variety than Halo (i.e. prox./remote mines, dual wielding etc). If EA can pull this off it will be stellar.

I wouldn't think that there would be many license probs with rare ( i think ....) so it would be a possibility , and EA knows that they can make plenty of money from this, nintendo aswell. With the recent surprise of voice chat and calling for free this would be awesome.....

its not Rare its someone else, I saw it posted on other forums. It was published/something by another company. One of those middle-man companies. The only real problem is the control schematics. Without the Z-button it wont' be the same.
