View Full Version : Nintendo DS To Have Dual Booting?
With the Nintendo DS having two media slots, how will the Nintendo DS know which one to boot up if both media slots are full? While it may be that the slot for the DS be the master and the GBA being the slave drive, it may be infact not that at all. Perhaps Nintendo is planning a boot up interface similar to the Nintendo GameCube when you boot up and hold 'A'. With Picto Chat being possibly bundled in the system, the interface would make the most sense.
You boot up, you either choose DS games, GBA games, Picto Chat, system settings, or even hopefully Internet.
Any other ideas?

Well, I think I heard somewhere that developers have the option of making both slots work together at the same time, if they wanted to make a game that used up both. If it doesnt, I wouldnt Mind. It doesnt really matter..Just make smash brothers DS....thats all I want :D
I think it would recgonize which slot has a cartidge in it when you turn the handheld on. The interface is a good idea, maybe thats how it could work if you happened to have a DS game and a GBA game in the both slots. Or if you had a GBA and a DS game in the handheld it'd recognize the master drive first. Sort of like when you connect your GBA to the GCN and forget about the cartridge thats in there...it loads up the cartridge instead of the connectiveity information.

Or, maybe it could open up some connectivity features between DS and GBA games ;)

The master device would definately be the DS drive, and the GBA drive would be a slave. Both can run at once, but the system would check the DS drive first at boot.

Maybe it'll be like a multi tray CD player, and just play whatever cartridge you were last playing?

i think they should make the DS kinda like a pda where when you turn it on you have diferent options like calender, Instant messageing,GBA game, DS, game, and internal clock.

It already has most of those functions, He means when you turn it on you have to select which one you want to use. I.E when you turn the DS on to play a GBA game tap a little GBA icon with the stylus or your finger...

That seems like a good idea to have a menu screen pop up at first.

I think i may be the only one but i have game.com its where tiger electronics tried to enter the video game industry and it too had to slots for games so you do not have to keep switching games. when you turn it on a menu poped up and it had a address book, calender, solitare, and a calculator. You could also select the game u wanted to play. Did also mention it had a touch screen. Too bad it wasn't in color or it could have done alot better than what it did.

that interface thing is wat i was thinking about, i've been talking to my friends about it, and we all agree it will probably have one, it'll make it more appealing, since it won't go directly to the game, well, i can't explain it, i hopeyou catch my drift....like...more options, not just gaming, more sophisticated...idk...

Maybe that's what the little thing at the bottom left of the DS is for... to switch between media slots. It looks like a switch to me, could be the volume control or something... but I think it's for switching what media slot to boot up from...
