And that doesn't really surprise me. Those are actually great numbers for GCN. I'd like to know what caused the spike in PS2 sales. It's outselling the GBA by over 3:1.

Well, yes... Sony are killing everyone, even without a price drop. Mario Kart DD will sell well. But, its just not looking good for Nintendo. Lets hope they gain some of the money they lost this christmas.

It's pretty unexpected that the PS2 would surge in sales like that. There has to be a reason. I'm suspecting it's some game that just released.

Before this sales chart, the GBA was consistently outselling the PS2, and at the very least it was never outselling the GBA by a ratio of 3:1. That's just shocking.

And I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy XI has been out over there for quite a while. I recall hearing about its release. I don't think it did particularly well.

I guess we'll know when the sales charts come in for software. I hope whatever is going on over there isn't contagious and comes over here. It'd drive Xbox and GCN sales to the floor...

I'm pretty sure that Sony lowered the PS2's price, which would explain the surge. Althoug, the PS2's numbers do fluctuate.

The GC is at 20 K so I'm not worried about the 'Cube right now. Besides, we all know that Sony is at the top of the industry right nw in sales, so this is nothing really new.

I'm surprised that the GBA SP's sales aren't higher, but it may be suffering from a lack of popular new (as in recently released) games.

One thing is assured though: Nintendo is going to make a lot of money this Christmas.

Hmmm... It's sorta like the same in NZ but Gamecube is coming last. In the lastest gaming shop catalouge Gamecube only had 1/3 of a page :eek: Yu-Gi-Oh had the other 2/3, PS2 had 6 pages X-Box 4 and GBA 1 page :(

Only reason PS2 is on top is because it has 5000 games... it doesn't matter if only 10 of them are good or not. Not everybody can judge what's a good game and what's a bad game. ^_^

Thats what its all about. Everyone loves Maro Kart DD. Everyone comes over to play it now and then and they still dont like the cube.

To be honest, I really don't care what people think about the gamecube. I'm not one of the types that's really biased towards a certain console developer. I actually think there are good things from all three current-gen systems (while the xbox WAS the slowest to gain decent support)
Does it really matter what some people at school think about the gamecube?

Btw: since when has the xbox been ahead of the psone in japan?

its weird how the worst console has the best sales, and for like 3 years. Seriously like that other guy said woudn't everyone in japan have one? I mean not realistically because only like 50 million have been sold but thats a sh*tload. I own a Xbox and GCN because everything on Ps2 is either crap or on another platform. PS2 (piece of sh*t 2) is not a good DVD player so I dont see why people buy it just for that reason, my friend had to send his Ps2 away 2 times and then the game he had worked and it doesn't accept many DVDs. The DVD extra thing is going to change the Next Generation of consoles because everyone now has a DVD player.
