The screens doesn't look good, but as the Vicar said to the Actress, I am guessing it looks better in motion.

I told Reagan that Hunter was a good game but he most likely got the terrible Cube port so he's all jaded about this game now.

This looks fun but I'll wait to play Conduit and see how that goes before I get psyched about Wii FPS.

HVS continues to embarrass the large third parties with the visuals of their Wii titles. After seeing The Grinder, Capcom should be even more ashamed of CTYD.

That's the truth of it. Someone who really looked at the hardware and made a top notch engine to really push it. That game supposedly along with the 4p co-op online you can also have up to 65 baddies on screen at the same time too. Looking at the visuals it's pretty tight for the fact that sucker has to be in very early beta or earlier. It kind of remnds me of the Underworld movies and others of the type with the looks of it or the old classic Vampire Hunter D too a bit. Something like this hasn't been done really much before so it'll feel more unique and could be a blast.
And darc is right Crapcom should be ashamed of themselves with all they've done with their larger teams and deeper pockets as they're an embarassment to being a licensee as are a few others.
HVG was brilliant delaying The Conduit a bunch to keep refining that Quantum engine up to it's Quantum 3 level it is now. They've gone and taken the 'Epic' or 'iD Games' way of making a stellar engine that'll be valid for a good while that you can just lightly upgrade as you find ways and then mash out a game in 1/2 the time. Very smart and I hope they shop that sucker out. I wonder if there are much resources online that discuss that engine as I'm curious about it.

Yeah I remember saying way back in 2006. That it would be smaller developers that really get the most out of the Wii. They'd see the larger developers trepidation and fill in the gaps. That seems to be coming to fruition via HVS and few other smaller studios.

I think these guys should be given a blank check by Nintendo. Give them whatever they ask for. Just make sure they have whatever they need to make sure that these games come out for the Wii. It seems that between HVS and Sega they are doing a good job of serving the 'core' gamers.
Now Nintendo needs to lift their game and get some of their big names front and centre at E3. E3 is about giving the informed gaming public what they want. The other 51 weeks fo the year is for mum/dad/gran.

Jeff: here is an article up at ign and a developer blog from over there that discuss a lot about the engine and how they made it, etc. Some good reading:

But seriously guys are you all so jaded that no one can be pumped as shit not only are we getting another serious effort in the wii fps department, but one with 4 player online co-op, 65+ enemies on screen, ranged/melee weapons, motionplus support for swords, wiispeak, etc... Plus damn it we can band up and go around laying waste to these vampies adn werewolves together. I for one wish this game wasn't so far off from release, hopefully Gladiator AD is sweet enough to fill in the gap between this and conduit, for my High Voltage fix.

Spyborgs and MH3 wipe the floor with all of these titles. It's good that these guys are trying, but nothing they've shown me is truly mindblowing yet. Everything I've seen by them is generic looking, except this (which is about 2 steps above generic) and Animales de la Muerte (which looks amazing).
Go ahead and attack me for saying that, but it's just how I feel.

Reagan sorry but you don't know SHIT about what you're talking about. You're comparing something you can touch to something you can't. Until you experience it, that's one dumb comment. Grinder in particular is fresh meat and a year out, you're just being whiny.
Erik I'd love to, but the tools at work here block IGN and blogs in particular too. I'll look later. My only hope would be trying to find it using google and go in and read off the cache.

and really? MH3 may be a gorgeous game, but its not really the most ungeneric game i ever seen...
while on the other hand I cant recall a ton of games with this kind of aesthetic, Nocturne for PC from back in the day comes to mind, and a few mods i had for half life, but this whole game is looking to have a really awesome campy van helsing, underworld, grindhouse, old era meets new, john carpenters vampire kinda thing going on. And damn do i dig it

There are so many FPS out for PS3/360 its hard to be excited for any FPS cause the genres been oversaturated. So a Wii one needs to get "waggle" down for real and compete in a flooded market. So yes I am jaded, against the whole genre, but I will atleast play the Conduit, either my friends copy, or get my own and give this company a chance. But I don't think we should praise them until their first title gets released. Also on a negative note read this. http://www.nintendojo.com/infocus/view_item.php?1243051898

Maybe not, but it appeals more to my tastes so.....

I wouldn't say High voltage shouldn't make fps games, but as some others have expressed, I too am kinda sick of fps games. That's not something particular to the wii, the 360 and the ps3 are just as guilty, if not more. On the other hand, I wouldn't say that MH3 wipes the floor with any of these titles, as it all comes down to opinion.
I wish people wouldn't be so dramatic. Even threads like these can make people Sweatin' like a Kevan...

I think High Voltage is really pushing the wii boundaries and giving the harcore fans what they want, which is good games in a system full of shitty games, thnak you for that, and Tailzo if you think the game does not good look to you, even though the game its in early development, its much better looking than the wii crap we are adapted to see.

Good point there that even if you're not a fan of the style (fps) as you're sick of them (I fairly well am too except in a few cases) you got to give credit where it's due and looking at this early stuff here there's a ton of promise.
Reagan got your mind in the gutter?

There in lies the problem for me. If this was anything but a FPS, I'd probably be more excited. I dig that it has 4 player online co-op (infact, thats flipping amazing) but I wouldn't mind seeing something else from these guy other than a FPS. Seems to me with this and Gladiator, they're trying too hard to be hardcore and really thats all they're focusing on. Or atleast, focusing on what is assumed to be "hardcore", an ideal of that concept - blood, shooting, violent, excessive, gratuitous, etc. Kinda get this impression they're doing hardcore for hardcore's sake, and nothing more beyond that. For me, thats kind of a bummer. But we'll see. With this title specifically, its not slated to release until holiday 2010; thats practically a year and a half away. Maybe I'll change my mind by then. But of the two titles HVS has just announced, this one, for me, is most promising. If only for the co-op gaming (I'm a sucker for that).

Considering the total number of developers really making full featured hardcore for the sake of hardcore efforts is about ...zero... these are very welcome additions to me. Im very interested in all their games thus far, gladiator less so but only because its the hardest to understand how it will play, ill take a first person shooter / motion plus melee fighter with four player online co-op.
honestly i dont see how anyone can consider themselves a gamer if the idea of taking on hundreds of onscreen vampires and demons with wiimote gunning and motionplus melee with three of your buddies online doesn't sound at least pretty awesome.

Well, I congratulate HVS for their efforts on Wii, and I hope their hard work pays off. This sort of demographic on Wii hasn't really been picking up these sorts of games, so it will be interesting to see what happens with HVS, considering it seems that they're placing all their eggs in one basket (that basket being the Wii).
I'm looking forward to all three of their games, although I'm rather sick and tired of FPSs myself. Really interested in Gladiator AD though.

Honestly I think they'll be alright. If they keep using that engine to keep their costs as low as possible and just toss new games at it at a steady clip it'll end up being beneficial to all. I see Conduit doing a good pop of sales at first, but then tapering off and doing the slow climb into happy town sales wise. Just because one 'core' title shows up the hard...err whinecore types want has appeared it's not enough bait for a lot. As more of their projects come and other like NMH2 and so on appear things will slowly change as these games will get picked up too as there will be more of that kind of variety. Will things on Wii ever go explosive out the gate like some 300k+ a week thing from a 3rd party? Probably not, but it's because they burned their own bridges and it'll take time to get stuff out there, build a presence, a trust, and a visibility to say 'I am here too, buy me' to people. Slow steady sales will be the Wii pattern and I see this with those core titles. Mind you if these few we see now are about it and HVG is the one carrying it, they're f'd as are everyone else.

^And they actually have their own engine. They'll atleast avoid troubles like Epic and certain other developers, as they tend to fight to the death... (Or have lawsuits?)

Well then you must be on drugs, lots of prescribed meds, or something. It's really sad you refuse to show the littlest bit of compassion or care when some credit is due for someones good work on the project. What we're seeing here is some pretty higher profile work for what the Wii is known to be capable of doing.
