Anyone playing Animal Crossing Wii? Get WiiSpeak?

So I had finally picked up Animal Crossing w/ Wiispeak bundle over the holiday and have been playing the **** out of it as is my way with AC. Its nice having the girlfriend living in my town also locally, it leads to some interesting interactions I never had while playing solo, I still have yet to even try it online. Anyone else playing AC out there on the forums? Or have we become that anti-nintendo?

I'm pretty impressed with the WiiSpeak mic too, its rather clear and has decent sensitivity so that I always sound pretty clear on it sitting on my couch maybe 6 feet away. I have only got to play with the message recordings in the WiiSpeak channel though, and without having any wiifriends with the channel so granted it has been limited. It seems to provide a lot of great additional online features people having been bitching about to bring Nintendo WFC up to speed. Voice messages and chat rooms look promising (shame you cant connect with a person and then just go play your own games and still be connected in a chat like live, at least as far as I know). My only problem is this is all a bit useless without any wii friends.

So anyone playing AC who'd like to exchange codes, if not just for the additional flow of information between our towns and connections at the city hub? I also realized I have no one's wii system code in my address book, and with Nintendo leaning towards letting you invite friends to specific games as long as they are in your system book, I probably need them. It was a mistake, apparently - although after everyone expected to get an Animal Crossing/Wii Speak bundle Nintendo caved to the pressure and announced one, but said it would cost more or you could get AC on its own.

It is actually slightly cheaper to get the bundle *sigh*.

I only have Eriks code, and my game is telling me that BBM has a place called "CubeTown", so I sent him a message from inside the game straight to his Wii mesageboard (so cool that you can message friends in AC, friends Wii message boards or even your own Wii message board all from your town Post Office) so hopefully I'll get something back from him soon.

I just ordered Wii Speak for just shy of half price from PLAY.com - £17.99 instead of £29.99. This means that if Hollie got Animal Crossing for the average online price of £29.99 at Christmas, then we now have Animal Crossing and Wii Speak for cheaper than the bundle online price of £49.99.

Be honest: Is the game worth it? I played the hell out of it on GC, but I eventually stopped because I was really sick of the repetitiveness of it. Will I like the Wii version, or should I not bother?

So far I've played it every day for the past 2 weeks.

It's almost identical to the DS version, but I'm a sucker for AC. I say it's worth it, but best to play it in moderation or yes you will get sick of it.

I think its worth it. I played the hell out of the cube and ds one, but ultimately that was still like 3 years ago since i last put good time into any AC, so it felt good to be back. There is lots of new stuff in the game (for one the museum is absolutely massive) and while none of it is the game changing revolutionary stuff people wanted, its still new content. The city adds a nice little mix up for an occasional visit. Ultimately, this is the best version of AC available. That being said some of it, at least the structure will feel very familiar. I personally put in about an hour a day, occasionally less, and am really loving my time with it. It works well for longer sessions too, but I definitely find it best played for short periods over many many days. If you consider yourself a fan of previous outings, this is a great refinement of all those ideas.

Couldn't agree more - I am exactly the same. About an hour or so is enough to say hi to all the neighbours, find and dig all the spots, nab a few fish, do a few favours, etc.

It's one of those titles that is VERY easy to burn out on, so a bit of moderation and you're golden.

I've gotten into the routine of coming home from work, putting the kettle on and making a cuppa, then sticking on AC.

I do my chores, say hi to the freakish abominations that live around me and then save and quit.






Completely relaxed, and there's no more thoughts about what I've done for the day, only thoughts of what to have for dinner and what to do after that. So peaceful now :)

I finally got it this morning and cracked it open. I can't get over how similar it is to the Gamecube game. I coulda swore I remember Nintendo saying once they'll never put out a sequel unless it's got a reason to, but I can't shake the feeling that this series has somehow turned into a sleeper cash-in for them.

I'm gonna play for a bit before I go online. There's still a lot of stuff I wanna try to do first.

I've caught loads of good fish... but if I never see another Horse Mackerel or Pond Smelt again it'd be too soon!

The most interesting stuff is always out in spring-summer anyway. I mean, I think at the mo there's only about 3 insects you can catch (Bagworm, Dung Beetle, Bee) - if there's any more please let me know.

Right now it's all about donating fossils to the museum, and I think you'll find that the museum in this version is MASSIVE. So much to collect!

I think this version is a total refinement of what the GC version started, and the DS version improved upon.

We should all try to visit each others villages at least once - that way we can stay in touch via the in-game post office, send each other crap, send each others neighbours fruits or shells and get awesome stuff in return, and make full use of the auction house seeing how it gets populated only with stuff that you and your friends put up for auction.

I havent been playing much lately, mostly because I had been getting a bunch of disc read errors and dont want to see resetti so much. I think I just need to clean my lens, which ill do when the lens cleaner kit hits the states next week. Which also means that finally after like 9 months I CAN PLAY BRAWL AGAIN
