My friends and I are planning to have an anime night were we all go over somebodys place and watch an anime movie. We are planning to watch Ghost in the Shell. Most of us haven't seen too many animes. Does anyone have any advice on any other movies(not series) that we could watch that would be good. Also is there any other advice that you guys have on how to make it a great night.
Thanks.

Well for an anime night I'd go with only anime movies or just one whole series...
As for movies you cant go wrong with Spriggan....Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust ...Blood the last Vampire as it is short but sweet....Ninja Scroll (has strong content)...Cowboy Bepop:the movie....
Escaflowne:the movie isnt bad either..
For more serious movies Perfect Blue...Jin-Roh...
If series....Trigun as someone said.....Cowboy Bepop...Berserk.. Evangelion....Blue Gender...the Kenshin Ova's....unless time to watch whole series....X the series (not the movie) and the Read or Die ova's...
Those are some of the ones I consider good.....though there's many more...

ANY OF THE MIYAZAKIs is great... I'd start with Princess Mononoke- can't go wrong with that one.

Sure i'll get what I can. I prolly won't get any Vampire D stuff though. I found this wicked anime store in town. They're selling the Zelda:WW and Zelda:MM soundtracks. I'll have to get them both.:)

I'll try that too. Is Akira a movie or series. My friends tell me that it is a series but isn't it a movie?

Well I don't know what kind of crowd you and your boys are.. but like everyone previously have said; Akira and Princess Mononoke are a nice pick. Grave of the Fireflies is another but it's very depressing =X There's not too many movies that stand for itself. Most of the anime movies I watch are usually based off of the series. Check Anime Academy (http://www.animeacademy.com/libtitle.html) for anime movies but keep a note that some of them are based off of series' and some may not be found at your local video store.
As for anything else, if you or your friends have a GC, go grab a bag of doritos and some soda, and bust out your skills on some multiplayer games [Smash Bros. Melee, Monkey Ball 1/2, Mario Party 4/5, Soul Calibur 2, Mario Kart: DD, TimeSplitters 2]. Most of these games can be found in the bargain bin or for $20-$30. For PS2, I only have one multiplayer game that's actually fun [WWE: Smackdown 5: H.C.T.P.] and you also need a multitap ;x
