I was just curious if anyone bothers with those movies at all on the PSP. Sony has brought them back from the dead and appear to be willing to pop up at least 5 a quarter for $10-15 instead of the disgusting old price.

I'm trying to figure out though what the visual advantage/disadvantage are on the titles as I can't dig it up using google. I did notice that Pirates on UMD was more vcd quality with some splotchier color so I'm guessing it was a size issue with a 2hr and 15min movie, but small stuff (90min) is pretty damn crisp.

Are any of you interested in the movies or have info on the format? Or do you know where to dig it up as the wiki has crap on it.

I think they're pretty cool if you travel alot, watch certain movies multiple times, or just enjoy collecting films. While I'm not a huge fan of the format, I am a fan at the prices they're selling UMD movies at right now. You can't go wrong if you can nab a good movie for $5 brand new.

Sigh I'd have erased this had you not posted in it because of where this got moved to.

That said though you and I both agree that UMDs need to be $15 at most and they're priced nicely now.

My brother bought Advent Children for PSP. Nice, but I expected bonus features of some sort. I guess that might be asking much given the small size of the disk.

From understanding UMDs lack any special features due to disc size. That combined with their PSP only format is what ultimately hampered the format...well as far as movies go. Having 1.8GB of storage for games is a pretty cool feature.

Yup they do fall in at 900MB single sided or 1.8GB double sided on those. Most UMDs do have extras, but very little which end up being previews for another movie or two, but rarely the other crud. I for one don't like the extras so I don't consider it a loss.
