CGI intros suck ass. Full length animation FTW!

Wario is not cel-shaded as previously thought. It's just good ole' fashioned full 24fps animation. This gets the title of smoothest (and most extravagant) 2D sprite work ever. I can't believe people aren't flipping out over this yet.

Also, notice the recurring theme in the music. Now you know where Wario's victory theme in Brawl came from.

Who would have thought Wario fans would get such wonderful treatment after the miserable failure that was last year's farm-job DS game?

This definitely had the potential to be a great 2D platformer, I'm definitely picking it up and hopefully Nintendo will see that there's still a market for these games on consoles. I'm pretty surprised too that Nintendo is putting this much work into the Wario franchise, it's obvious that Wii development is a lot faster than either the N64 or GC when Nintendo can pump games of this quality out this fast. I hope they keep this pace up through the whole generation, we could get a lot more pleasant surprises like this one.

Said it before and I'll say it again... does anyone else remember Nintendo saying they was thinking of branching out and starting their own animation studio?

I believe they already did start an animation studio, but it's first project was based on a series of Japanese poems and not any of their game series. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find any other info beyond that though.

I would fancy a guess and assume that animation department is in-house. If so, it looks like we're getting to see some of the fruits of their labor. Hopefully this sells well and we get to see more 2D games take off.

This (http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2006/01/19/nintendo-collaborates-with-poem-museum/) is the only info I could find related to that "100 Poems" project.

According to Wikipedia, Shake's animation is down by Production I.G.

Hey, wow. Is it a classic 2D platformer? Either way, it's on my radar too now.
