Nothing like remakes of an RPG series that hasnt evolved one iota since its inception to get the Japanese riled up. If there's one thing they like as much as their non-games, its playing the same damn RPG over and over and over.

In all seriousness, Im glad they adopted the visual style of DQVII, and hopefully all of those games will be released stateside for the benefit of RPG fans that didnt get to play them.

This is the generation of iffy profit forecasts for every publisher not named Nintendo, thus all the remakes. With retro stuff selling like crazy a remake is relatively cheap to make (even one fully redone like this) and guaranteed to make some profit. Square-Enix makes the most remakes because FFXIII is going to screw them in a year so they need to line their pockets in preparation for the hit. The more I think about FFXIII on the PS3 the more I cringe and I can only imagine what the S-E bean counters are thinking. It's almost the equivalent of releasing FFVII on the Saturn, it wouldn't have mattered how good it was if it's on a console with an iffy userbase.

I'll probably pick up these DQ remakes though just because I've never played any of the middle titles in the series. This also gets a few more classic games out of the way so soon they'll be forced to remake Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana. That would make my year,

^ Good point indeed, the only think that would in fact change the PS3 to become a huge market seller and get everyone, yes even my self to but the PlaystionSaturn is a fully remained version of Final Fantasy VII itself!!! However Square-Enix is makeing a lot of none remake titles in total such FFXIII, FFTA2, FFTA-PSP, That Fighting FF title on PSP, Dragon Quest Wii, FFCC2 on Wii on and on.

Dragon Quest VIII played a lot like Dragon Quest VI. All of you DQVIII fans will absolutely love it. I like DQVI better than FFVI. This pretty much assures that the DS will be the best selling platform in Japanese market history.

My point was that the DS is becoming the all-purpose gaming system, unless you're heavily into sports or racing games. In that case you wouldn't need to spend any money to have "games on the side". In a perfect world, needing only a DS for gaming would be sweet.
