...for those that don't know, it's an anime convention in Toronto. This is my first year going, so I'm wondering if anyone else is going too. From the outside (not having previous experience), it looks like it will kick ***.

Heh, I would have gone this year, but the timing is bad for me (stupid university in Ottawa :p). However, IMO, CNAnime is the one I'm going to (last week'ish of summer) and is going to kick much more a$$. Reason?: Megatokyo. That convinced me thoroughly, and the fact that I can take all my hard earned summer dollars and blow them all in one con ^_^. Either one, though, will be a great experience, and is definitely worth doing if you have never been to a con before. And if you have been to CNA and not AN, I recommend AN purely because it's much more similiar to a-typical cons in the states. Best thing of CNA is the dealer room, which is really all there is, but AN has much more to offer. I'm a Megatokyo nut, so that's my reasoning between the two. Who else here is thinking of going to either one?

I wish stuff like that would come to new orleans.

I don't like cosplayers.. usually they don't do a good job :x plus it's a tad.. ahno.. "geeky" for me. But what do i know, i've never been to one.

Hmm, problem with cosplaying is it's very hard to get decent outfits. And materials are hard too, I mean, does anybody know how hard it is to find crimson red real leather? Best I can find is the stuff they line antique cars with. No way I'd use the crappy pinku faux red that some of the females have tried using. Too tacky. *sigh*
But yes, the 'hot' women cosplayers in those -oh so- kawaii outfits ^_^... but damn are those good/evil chii twins the biggest turn on there is... ^^;;
I'm hopeless...

i really don't think the costume or being "hot" matters.. although that is a bonus. what i find real darn stupid is the way cosplayers pose.. they just don't fu**ing do it right. overexaggeration on everything possible, and it makes me feel like they have no sense or idea of the character they're cosplaying. no reflections of style or personality.. it feels like they're only there to show off how well they can imitate in terms of looks.. it just frustrates me.. agh..
they're just magnets for my criticism.. but what the hell do i know.. i guess this type of stuff doesn't matter in cosplaying.

Yeah, you're right though. Most cosplayers are insecure with who they are cosplaying, let alone allowing themselves to get a little silly to put on the right pose and attitude. And it does matter actually, it seperates hardcore, no-life otaku from the average otaku that just do it for the fun of cosplaying, not for any social status. I mean, I'm not going overboard on a costume either. I plan on dieing my lab coat, and some other things... plans plans, but I needses money. Damned money...
Oh, is it just me, or has the CNAnime website crashed badly? I've tried looking at it recently and they lost all the info of Fred Gallagher making a guest appearance, ticket info etc. It doesn't have a forum link, so does anyone here know whats up? Thx for the help.

Oh, something that put a big smile on my face would have to be latest pic for ToS (http://cubemedia.ign.com/cube/image/talesofsymphonia_042004_006.jpg). Of course, what do you expect from me, eh? ^_^;; Well, it's about time we recieved some GCN Anime goodness. If not for the language barrier, I'd be all over the imports. That instant translator ear and throat piece can't come soon enough...

yea.. i mentioned before, that i hope they keep tos in japanese or that they should input an option to toggle it from jap to eng or subtitles etc.. or they shouldn't even have any english dubs at all.. it'll be less work for them anyways.. god i hope they keep it japanese :(

True, but you know the censors. They just hate Japanese, it seems. Or it's the central USA soccer moms that complain their 8 year old dumba$$ kid can't understand the game because it's in Jap. Hopefully we'll see a system like the one they used in FF10, giving you english dubs, or original jap with subs. Just like Anime ^_^, which makes the whole issue with this seem retarded. If the game is based on Anime, why not go with the same type of language choices? Ugh, the degree of stupid is incredibly high whenever it deals with stupid questions. They always take the wrong answer, no matter how obviously wrong it is. Bah, 2am and my throat hurts from laughing too hard at the first DVD of the first season of Family Guy. Priceless --~
