Just got my new Electronic Gaming Montley

Shoe: 7.5
Milkman: 7.0
Shawn 5.5

Shawn: just cracks on this game, nuff said!

Milkman: Comes a little short to SSX Tricky, but offers thrilling sense of speed and danger that SSX lacks.

Shoe: What need for speed underground does for the rice-rocket set, 1080 Avalanche will do for snowboarding fans.

Well, those aren't great scores, but I'll wait to see other reviews to see if it's good (EGM has been shaky). Plus, I'd rather read a fans review then a critics.

I saw the scores a few days ago, but it hasn't stopped me from wanting it.

Hey, EGM is the only place I know that gave Mario Kart DD a 10/10/9.5!

Well, they did see the greatness in MK: DD, but so did a few other people.

Oh and Stuff Gamer (I know...) gave it (1080)4 out of 5. So there's still lots of hope for 1080 (and it seems as though IGN likes it......but it seemed that way with MK: DD too...)

I think reviews are bad to relate to. Maybe not all the time, but alot of time. Cause you know which games you will like and dislike. So you know what games you wanna buy. If you look at gamespot and ign...they gave MKDD 7.9 cause it was too similar to the other MK games...but they gave all the TONY HAWKs games 9 plus...I mean c'mon...I never base my purchase on reviews.

See people, this is what happens when you try to compare 2 games that aren't the same. If SSX 3 and 1080 were both trick based or both racing based then it would be ok, but they aren't the same. I am really starting to lose respect for mag/site reviews.

I dislike EGM for somereason, i think ive read a lot of other bad reviews from them as well. Oh well, all ive really heard about 1080 is that its graphics kind of suck, which they do based on the demo on the zelda disk

Meh, from what I've read, they said the trick system is awful. They say it has a wonderful sense of speed though, and that's just what I've been looking for. SSX got really boring because it wasn't very fast and I got tired of the tricks, and it wasn't particularly deep. I'm giving this one a rent at the very least.

Then it is about right where it should be. 1080 was never a trick based system. It was about racing, and then tricks on the side.

When I played the demo in the stores, I wasn't focused on the tricks, was just trying to win the race. I wanted to go back and try out the tricks, but by that time they had the new disc in with playable mario kart and the new 1080 video only.

Remember what EGM did to F-ZERO? They lowered the score because it was too hard :| That's why I don't really trust many of their reviews anymore.

Same thing there. Look at the Bad...They say its tough to make tricks....so they dont like it...its so easy to make tricks in ssx3...you just turn the joystick. they are complaining cause the moves are to hard to bust,....c'mon

You have to learn how to play video games before reviewing them. :o

Edit: Oh, and they didn't even MENTION the AVALANCHE feature of this game! How could you not mention that?

It really doesn't matter what they say. Its your decision whether or not u like the game and want to play it or not. I just use the the score that they give for the game as a helping decision on if i get the game or not

Who said that it isn't good LastAlliance..... 1 magazine??? If that was the case, no one should have bought Mario Kart because both IGN and Gamespot gave it 7.9 whereas everyother site so far has given it an 8.0 or higher.

first off, a 7.5/7.0 from the 2 EGM dudes is one great score.. for ign and gamespot.. anything above 7.0 is like.. a very good score..

I'm still going to get this game. The NES controller as a snowboard is hilarious. Plus four player splitscreen/ LAN play is what I'm waiting for!

Is that EGM Shawn guy the same person that gave WaveRace BlueStorm a score of five?

I'd be far more inlcined to listen to what EDGE magazine have to say about the title. IGN and EGM and other (usually American, sorry) media have very inconsistent scores and comments.

It's a shame the game didn't come out months ago and had to be released at the same time as SSX Tricky. However, SSX Tricky had godawfull wannabe hipster characters who did nothing but talk smack the whole ride down the mountain, I couldn't bare it. Will be glad to see 1080 free of that nonsense..

Besides, it's from the developers of Wave Race, one of the msot brilliant games :)

I just re-played the demo today, and I figured out that you can play two more courses besides the course on easy. If you put it on expert, they have a really fast course, and it blew me away. It's better than SSX3, IMO.

I loved the original... it sucked away so much of my life it's untrue!!! Me and my friends were addicted to it.

I for one will be picking up a copy as soon as Lunchtime on Friday gets here and I can nip out to Game and pick it up.

No doubt it will come with a Nintendo VIP card so I can register it (it's a Europe thing) and will probably get a slew of 1080 themed stuff in return (usually wallpapers and screensavers).

You cant trust NP they only rate Nintendo games good. Im still waiting to get my stupied gameinformer.

I'll probably get Avalanche. I played a demo at the store about a month ago and it was awesome. The sense of speed was definately there, plus the original was one of my fav sports (or extreme sports) games of all time. The avalanche system is also a real neat idea.

I can say from personal experience (of the last hour or so)

WOW!!!

I've only stopped playing because I may pass out from hunger if I don't eat soon... but it is FANTASTIC!!!

I'm definately gonna have to do a user review soon -or maybe tomorrow... depends when 1080 lets me go!!!
