Ok, that is SO freaking cool!

two things about it though:

-I hope they have permission from Nintendo to do that, because if they don't, the whole project could get shut down.

-I hope it gets finished! Many tribute games like this just end before they're completed, because the maker loses interest. There was a NiGHTS Into Dreams tribute awhile back I was looking forward to, but the dude abandoned it...

Yeah I think it's only a problem if he tries to make a profit from it, but I'm not sure - that sounds cool though but boy that's a lot of work.

actually, I could go without... stupid fairy forced me to mute the TV--and miss the rest of the great sounds the game had >:(

Yeah - I remember playing the demo of this that was just the first village. May have to try put a newer one some time, could be pretty cool! :)

Hmmm...a version of OoT with ALTTP graphics. Seemed to me that OoT was practically the same as ALTTP, just the story was altered a bit. Hence one of the reason I don't like OoT nearly as much as anyone else. *Senses the bashing coming upon him*

OoT had different enemies, different types of people, and it took place at the current time and 7 years later. It's a whole lot different than LttP, and better at that.

I don't think so, ALTTP was far superior to OoT. If ALTTP never came out, OoT would not exist, because they are intertwined with stories. Hence the 7 sages/7 maidens thing. If you ask me, OoT is way to overrated just because it was the first Zelda in a totally 3-D landscape.

I think some people just can't accept Lttp for it's graphics. I remember a lot of people first got into zelda when Oot came out. Now when they try to play the old-school Zeldas, esspecially Lttp, they can't play it.

It's like when FF7 came out, it introduced whole new Final Fantasy fans, some of those fans think FF3 & FF2 on SNES sucks, I think they suck! Lol.

OoT is considered great because it had difficult puzzles (some were, some weren't), a massive landscape, good storyline, good controls, good graphics, and was fun. Being the first 3D Zelda game did not hurt it, but continuing to say it's the best game out (like myself) when other 3D Zelda games have come out is, well, nonsensical. It's like saying I like the first LoZ over A Link to the Past because it was the first Zelda game. lol

Anyway, I don't get why people want a 2D OoT. We all argue that gameplay is more important than graphics, so why do you want to downgrade great N64 graphics to 2D when we truly don't need it to be in 2D.

I liked both FFIII and VII, so there!

I liked both ALttP and OoT, so there!

I was introduced to Zelda in OoT, and I loved the game, and I think of it as my favorite game of all time, then I got the GB version of Link to the Past, and I love it almost as much as OoT. The reason I like OoT more is because it was the first one I played and it has the most memories for me, which is probably the same reason many people like Link to the Past more...

I say the next zelda game goes with a Mature rating and make it so that Link can chop limbs off and whatnot! Keep the cartoony look but make it gory. Not too gory, but just enough so people will be like "Oh!....niiiice...". Sales would go UP. I know that it isn't "nintendo like" to make a game violent but come on...everything changes! Or make two different versions...but that would be too much of a hastle. What do you guys think? I'm just throwing it out there to you guys for discussion.

Exactly. Ocarina of Time is the best 3D game ever made, and not because of the hype, it's because it has such a perfect balance (more impressive is the fact that it was done with 32MB with a team of 300+ and over 3 years).

sephiroth's characterization was mediocre at best, and seven wasn't even all that great of a story...if i had a dime for everytime i saw some guy who played seven and thought sephiroth was the coolest, and who also was sooo into the goth/heavy metal scene, i'd be the richest man alive. even richer than bill gates.

if sephiroth was the best square had to offer you guys, quit playing now.

are you kidding me? at least he was an actual character. sephiroth's characterization wasn't even a SHADOW of kefka's.

and, i didn't say that EVERYONE who likes sephiroth is a goth kid, i'm just saying i'd be rich if i had a dime for every goth kid i found that thought he was the shit.

the precise reason i find kefka to kick sephiroth's ass is just that, though...he wasn't prescribable to any image. sure, he was goofy, an ass, and even a wimp, but he was evil, and there's no denying that. when he was on screen, you could tell that square put thought and time into him, whereas with sephiroth you kinda felt like you were watching one of those deliberately "cool", gothic-themed animes/movies.

so yes, even though he was the supposed boy george of square, i stand by my claim that kefka is the greatest FF villain ever.

Okay, I thought I clicked into the thread that said Could OoT get any better? But obviously I clicked on the thread labeled Let's Post about something off topic in here where they are manyother threads to do so! Honestly... ^Off topic posts galore^

Anyways, I downloaded the little demo and it looks like A Link to the Pasts graphics kind of, but the demo was so lame. You couldn't even do anything! Just slash grass! And all he is making is another Link to the Past game with just a tiny difference in setting and story, as that is all the Ocarina of Time game was. A 3D version of ALttP.

Hmmm, I had a look at the demo that's out - it's not really anything special yet. It' pretty much just a map-scrolling engine so far. I mean, I'm planning on doing an RPG project in C++/DirectX next year with my friends from school, and the map/tile engine will probably be down first. Once I see the battle engine in action, I'll be impressed.

It's a good idea and should be a great game once its complete...and as for copyright infringement as long as it is distributed for free and gives credit to nintendo for basically everthing(except the actual making into LttP style) then he's good because it would pass off a type of parody...
