What can I say? It sucks. Anyone disagree?

Yes, I do. Besides Offspring (since they're not really punk anyway) I love NOFX and Bad Religion and I'm always getting into more. I like the amount of energy in it, and the "punk" you hear on the radio is all whiney pretty boy stuff like Simple Plan. I don't like that stuff.

Simple plan sucks, I half to give you that. I do like offspring though.

i like punk, but it gets a little old after awhile..
the ramones (my fave, that i never ever get tired of)
bad religion
nofx...is alright...
i also like the offspring and green day
there are other bands i like that could probably be in the punk category, but really, who knows what punk is these days anyway? all i know is it's not most of the crap they play on the radio.

Green Day is cool. I've only recently gotten into punk, so I'll have to check out The Ramones on iTunes.

It seems like the big 3 new punk bands of 2003 all sounded identicle, atleast to me. I sure as hell couldnt tell the difference between good charolette, simple plan, and new found glory. Although, I must confess I sort of liked the songs of the latter

Yeah, and it also seems like the big three punk bands of 2003 aren't punk bands! I hate the **** that passes for punk nowadays! The bands that Boon listed are REAL punk bands, and they're also GOOD punk bands. I do have to admit, New Found Glory is pretty good, but I wouldn't call them punk, not real punk. --~

I dont like the new school punk, except for green day. i havent heaard any nofx, so i cant judge them.... what i do like is the old school, true punk. Fugazi, Dead Kennedies, The Ramones, Blaack Flag, all great true punk bands.

dead kennedies are totally awesome too. as well as black flag. i can't believe i left rollings out of the list.
but new found glory's not bad. they've got some pretty good songs...they're just not punk.
NO ONE beats the ramones, though...they are the original punk band. we'd not have nearly as much punk without them. they're soooo good.

Once again we see eye to eye man. What about the Sex Pistols, they should get a mention

the sex pistols are good, but i don't like their entire catalogue of songs like i do with some of the bands i mentioned there. but hell, if we're going to mention them we might as well mention the clash, even though they came in kinda at the end of the original punk movement...

My favorite is Bad Religion :D, those guys kicked AYASS. They all went to Ivy League schools too if I remember correctly and the lead singer teaches at some college in California now. Can you imagine how awesome it would be to have him for your professor? It would kick some ***. --~

Yeah no kidding! He's writing a book now about how evolution and religion can coexist (I think). Anyways yeah, they're a pretty badass band.

I like Green Day, Blink 182

Blink 182 is awesome, but they aren't punk no matter how much Tom wants them to be. :D

Tom wants them to be Emo if you ask me. Take that Boxcar thing for example, that SUCKED. --~

Actually, Tom is the one who wanted the band to mature into teh blink-182 it is now. If you've listened to the new CD it's a totally changed band.
Anyways, i'm sick of all of the misconception (especially in teenage girls) of what punk really is. Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and any of those other crappy bands that take pills to raise their voice don't deserve to be put in the same category as Bad Religion, Nofx, Sex Pistols, Rancid, The Adicts, Cockney Rejects, Anti-Flag, etc.
And for the Offpsring, some of their music is punk--but the older stuff. Ignition is definately their best CD. Their new stuff is good, too, but I'm not a fan of their mainstream music (the ones that are usually made into music videos--I never liked "Pretty Fly" or "Get a Job"... they have so much better music).
People really gotta do research before they babble about music--the common idiocy that Punk is high-pitched melodical squealing about your girlfriend, why your dad hates you, or heartbreak. TEENAGE ANGST WAS NEVER PUNK!!! ...ahem

I don't like pretty fly or get a job either. I do like a lot of their newer stuff though like Dammit I changed again, All I want, and a few more. I also like Beheaded from the first one, that is an awesome song.

I think the best song from the newer CD is "The Noose"
When i heard the intro, i didn't like it, but it sped up and then i did :p

The Noose is excellent. I also like Lightning Rod.
