So, what do you guys think so far? Has anybody seen it outside of Adult Swim?

I've seen the first, oh, two or maybe three episodes. I think it's kind of bland so far, but each episode keeps getting better. Hopefully it will pick up soon, the show looks like it has a lot of potential. --~

I thought you didn't like anime bizz? Is this even anime.......I haven't heard of it.

Why would you think that I don't like anime? That's just ridiculous. Yeah, it's anime, and I had never heard of it either until they started showing adds for it on cartoon network. --~

I read somewhere in some thread that you didn't like anime.

McBizzel

You mean this:
"Hmmm, all of it. Yeah, I guess that's right. ALL of anime is the worst. That makes the most sense ever alive on the planet. --~"

?

Read the post above that, I was mocking that person's notion by being completely sarcastic.

I LOVE anime. --~

To me this show lacks the two things that define anime; comedy and action and this has neither IMO.

It has been a little bland so far, but I'm going to keep watching it. It has good potential, plus it's got one of those great theme songs that you get sometimes in anime shows. That theme they play at least once in every episode. I love that stuff, beebop has one, big o (even though big o has the worst theme song I've ever heard, it has some good songs that they play during the show frequently). I like the song during the credits in Inuyasha a fair amount too. --~

Ok, right here, behold, for I am the one of all the knowledge concerning WHR. I seen the entire thing before anyone even knew it was actually good! I watched the eps as soon as they were fansubbed, and DAMN is it a good show! Really, the show is kinda monster of the week syndrome for the first half, but then it gets very interesting. I won't say more, since this show is really good. I recommend you dl the fansubs, the stuff on cartoon network isn't that great. Get dvd rips of the english dub if you don't like subs, but I'd advise getting used to subs since most fellow otaku, such as myself, despise dubs. In general, they suck. NOT all the time, but sometimes they're decent. Like Cowboy Bebop or Trigun. Heh, Bizzel, if you really like the opening credits music, you should seriously try listening to some j-pop. My favourite band so far is The Pillows, they did the background music for FLCL. But, in the meantime, keep watching WHR. Oh, and rpguidry? You're definition of Anime is too tunnel vision. What most people think of as the best Anime ever, Grave of the Fireflies, has NO comedy, and very little action. Ugh, 4:30am, curse my infernal addiction to Anime. And for the rest of you: yes it is Anime, it's very badass, and it's great that Bizzle is a fan of Anime. I need some rabbid fans in here like myself, it's getting lonely arguing with XE, boon and rottwylor all the time ^^

At times like these I wish Canada had Cartoon Network. The best stuff is Inu-Yasha up here (not to knock against Inu-Yasha)

Yes, I have been watching Witch Hunter Robin on Cartoon Network. I have watched it since it first began airing.

Yes, I am enjoying it so for. I agree that it is getting better with each episode.

Yes, I will continue to watch it.

No, I will not download any fan subs.

No, I will not watch anything with subs.

I do not like subtitles. They are to distracting from what is going on in the show. The English dubs may not be very great, but I prefer it over subtitles anyday. If I want to read, I'll grab a book.

And simply because "most" Otakus do not like dubs does not mean that all Otakus must hate them.

No, you are correct in some ways Evil. But when I say "most", I mean you are the first die-hard dub only Anime fan I have ever heard of before. Oh, and trust me, you are missing out on a lot of series since a number of them have not been properly dubbed and, therefore, are horrible. Besides, keeping up with the text isn't very hard, it's a matter of multi-tasking. Anyways, by missing out I know that you have not heard of Full Metal Alchemist (not Panic, Alchemist), since it is still in the fansubbing area. Ach, oh well, Witch Hunter Robin still kicks a lot of a$$, and I've heard the dubs are quite decent. While I envy the fact you guys get Cartoon Network and up in Canada we get screwed over, at the same time I'm semi-glad since we don't have nearly as many restrictions in terms of content. It's just impossible to get anyone to air Anime to begin with. F**king CRTC, curse their old crusty a**es. :(

Perhaps. I know many anime series have not been properly dubbed, but just what makes you so sure that it is any better in Japanese? Just why does the majority of Otaku prefer to listen to it in a language many of them do not even speak let alone understand?

For all you know, the original Japanese voice overs could be just as bad or even worse than the English dub, but since we don't speak it well enough to know good Japanese voice acting from bad, well, we're just prefering something in a language we can't understand just because we don't like the English dubbing.

Which is, in my opinion, quite ridiculous.

See, I maintain that someday I will learn Japanese. At least I plan to, and watching Anime is a way to help the process along. By merely watching subs only, you can get a feeling of what the person is trying to say. While you think of subs as merely reading the subtitles, it's much more than that. I pay attention to the text about 50% of the time now, the rest of it I can grasp without needing to read. It's not like I know exactly what is being said in English, persay, but after watching so many series I know what is meant to be said. It's very hard to put into words, and I'm not pretending to know Japanese decently at all, but you develop a feeling for what is being said after hearing the same language constantly. That, and after watching subs for so long, glancing down is almost second nature. It's a tiresome argument, subs vs. dubs, and one which will never end. And as for telling whether someone is a good voice actor or not, it has NOTHING to do with what they are saying; a script is a script. It has everything to do with how they are saying it, the feeling they put into the words they are saying. And, like I said before, after watching Anime for awhile, specifically subs, you get a sense of things. Good and Bad Japanese voice actors is one of them. Just to throw you for a loop, compare Hentai Japanese and English voice actors. Surely you know which is the better. --~

It is obvious that this is an argument that no one can win, as it all involves personal preference. So I will say nothing more of it.

So, I am just going to say that the last few night's episodes of Witch Hunter Robin on Cartoon Network are starting to reveal the show's main plot, and so far, it is a very interesting plot indeed.

It's so interesting that I'm almost compelled to go out and buy the entire series on DVD. Unfortunately, I do not have enough money to do so. My only choice is to wait each day for the episodes to air.

Plah.

WTF is an Otaku? --~

To save me time, I simply copied this from one of my "sources". They're good at what they do, I must admit... but, without further ado, the definition of Otaku:

Otaku (o-tah-ku): A fan on an extremely obsessive level. In Japan, a derogatory term. Used anywhere outside of Japan, otaku automatically refers to an anime obsession.

Fair enough, I have a question though. What show is your sig from? Those illustrations look familiar, did the creator do anything that I might know? --~

Hmm, well the proper name is Onegai Sensei. I call it Onegai Teacher, and those of you that watch dubs only (and are WRONG) call it Please Teacher (ugh...). It's from a company that you probably have seen a lot, Bandai ^_^. The character designer did Ah! My Goddess and, ironically enough, the voice actress for Belldandy did Mizuho in Onegai Teacher. Still have to see Ah! My Goddess, stupid cursed slow internet! Another series the character designer did would be Bubble Gum Crisis. That's all I can find out, so far, but I find this type of artstyle is similiar to a number of other artists out there. But Hiroaki Gohda can draw Mizuho and Belldandy like no other. Damnit, I'm night dreaming again..... :D.....

Man, I'm glad I kept watching this show. It's starting to get really good now. --~
