I'd have to say Xbox is the better platform, it has some of the PS2 greats like GTA 3 and GTA: Vice City along with all the great sports games like Madden and NBA Live with far superior graphics...and the Controller S for Xbox is pretty good too....

I would say ps2 because i'm a Final Fantasy lover and it gets a lot of third party support however w/o Final Fantasy I would go for the Xbox

they are both evil, and shame on all of you , although i suppose PS2 is the lesser evil. They are both rookies in the game design business. I mean, would you rather have troy aikman, micheal jordan, or sammy sosa on your basket ball team. My point is that sony can make there [edit] little cd players, and microsoft can make my computer work, bu nintendo supplies all my video games. If all of you are just PS2 and Xbox [edit] than you can kiss my ass cuz im going to nintendorks

Sony is way more than a rookie! It's there good 2nd year. Ide say, they were the rookie of the year. I mean, there killing Nintendo... both years there even out. PlayStation 2 for me, All the good fighters, EA sports online, MGS etc... Microsoft has crap on the PS2.

I have an Xbox and so far I'm satisfied. Knights of the Old Republic is nothing less than amazing.
But PS2 has the Final Fantasy games.
So the choice is up to you.
I prefer Nintendo no doubt...but my question was is Xbox better or PS2...we all know Nintendo is the leader.... they have the most quality games including Zelda, Mario Kart, and Metrioid...but which of the other two are better?

Depends on the type of games you like, really. I have all 3 consoles, and while GC is my favorite the PS2 comes in second.
If you like RPGs and want to play EA sports games online, then PS2.
If you want the prettiest games then Xbox is probably the one to go with; the graphics chipset is better than the rest and it supports 720p. MS seems to have a better online plan than Sony does. Perhaps the biggest complaint I have is that it doesn't have many exclusive titles to it and many of the PS2/PC ports are lackluster. The xbox hasn't been used for months in my house.
I'd go for the PS2. Its got nice excluives. Like WRC series, GT series, Kingdom Hearts, Tekken series, and the best designed controller. After GCN ofcourse :)

i really can't say...but having played xbox more...i'd say xbox...
but i still favor nintendo overall....
when you really think about it here are the stregths of each console
GameCube - most quality games, best controller
PS2 - most games
Xbox - best graphics

Id have to say Xbox. Bets graphics, superior network setup and online plan. It took the GTA series and gave it a graphic rehaul, and Xbox is getting what seems to be a never ending surge of RPG's (KOTOR, Fable, Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition, Dungeons and Dragons Heroes). Im getting an Xbox as soon as possible!
I'm not a fan of the XBox or online play, and I'm not that interested in the PS2 (except for Final Fantasy X, which I think would make a great addition to the GCN library.)
You have to admite the PS2 has awesome Platformers and RPG's :p
True, but it has horrible graphics/ load times/ controllers. Tell me you wouldn't want to see Final Fantasy X on the GCN, which has a better graphics engine, a faster processor and a much more comfortable controller.
why the heck didn't GTA come to GameCube...I heard that GTA 3 was going to come to GCN but then it got canceled...i was so mad...I have vice city for my pc but my pc doesn't run it as smoothly as GCN would...plus i have no controller so its a little annoying

Between the Xbox and PS2, the Xbox is definately the "party" console, and PS2 is more the "single player" console.
Nothing beats getting 3 friends and playing NHL 2004, or any other sports game. Fun times...
However, the PS2 has a strong lineup of RPGs and other games meant for one player. Every Final Fantasy game (the main series) is playable on the PS2 with the exception of FF3(j) and FFXI (not out till february)
Just depends on your type of gaming. If you already have a cube, though, I'd pick PS2, cause it has the most that the gamecube DOESN'T have between the PS2 and Xbox.
I'd take the Final Fantasy station over the Xbox anyday.
If I had to choose, I would go with the PS2. Even though it is a piece of crap, it still has good games.
If you have a PS2 and a GCN you actually have it all. GCN for multi player and good multi player games (and has a few good single games like Metroid:Prime) and the PS2 for single RPG and Platformers.

I would def. choose PS2 over XBOX. The XBOX has absolutely no games I want, while the PS2 continues along with the Final Fantasy series, along with all the other really great Squaresoft games.

And halo is also a PC title now. The requirements are low, but you need a pretty good setup to run it like the xbox does. Either way, I'd choose a mouse and keyboard over a control pad for an FPS any day.

In a few words, here's the breakdown on the postives of the current generations:
Xbox - heavy online content, slightly better graphics, hard drive, PC friendly ports
PS2 - HUGE game library, strong 3rd party support, Some great exclusives, decent controller
Cube - Larger percentage of AAA 100% exclusive titles, great controller, cheaper cost and almost as powerful as the XBox
The best console is dictated by the best games. I'm sorry but the likes of Metroid Prime, Zelda Wind Waker, Monkey Ball, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil Zero...etc can not be found on the Xbox.
Add to this the fact that Nintendo actually care about video games, the Cube comes out on top - but a PlayStation 2 is also a must have for the sheer number of titles available.
I see little reason to buy an Xbox other than to mod it and play emulation on it. Halo is already on the PC...

I would say PS2 over the Box. The graphics are poo poo, but tolerable. It's the gameplay that makes the game. PS2 has many great platformers(not as good as Nintendo though but decent) like Ratchet and Clank, and Jak and Daxter. Kindom of Hearts is really cool, I don't really like FFX it's to boring. I'm an old school FF fan. Although I love FF7, and 9 , and I can play those on my PS2. I also just got origins, which I love because it "supernintendo-izes" the NES classics.
And of course GTA3, and vice city which were out waaayy long before XBOX. Who the hell cares if they released it on the Xbox, I have both on my computer and they both look hella better on my PC. I can even mod my cars and skins. :P
Oh yes ACE COMBAT 4!!! I love that game.

Halo is soon coming to the Mac as well :) I can't pick either...I like XBox and PS2...PS2 has the likes of Jak, Ratchett and Clank - obviously not up to par with Nintendo platformers, but good enough and then XBox has RARE! Grabbed By The Ghoulies is freak'n awesome! I liked Blinx, too. I'm just a platform junky.

Yeah, I like platform games too...
Grabbed by the Ghoulies is probably the best platformer on the Xbox, with the exception of Voodoo Vince (that game owns). I haven't played any PS2 platformers that really interest me (Jak and Daxter was good, but, same old collect this and this routine).

Yeah, the Xbox is pretty good. I dont like the PS2 controller. Feels too small in my hands. I could've swore i could break that friggin thing in half at the store demo of Prince of Persia. And i dont much like the sticks next to each other. The Xbox/Gamecube set up is easy to get used to (especially with the controller s), except that whole black white button thing.
And why does everyone say that Microsoft has no experience with games? They've been developing games for a good ten years on the PC, although the only gaame i can think of they've been developing and sticking with for so long is Flight Sim. But they released the original Crimson Skies, and Midtown Madness 1 and 2 on PC. They know a lot about games..... just not console games
MS doesn't have any of those games availible for Xbox i think... GC is the best...best controller, smallest, best games, and Mario as a mascot

The Xbox is pretty much a console for Online gaming and nothing more than that. the PS2 and ofcourse, the Cube got better titles in my opinion.

Theres some truth in that. Xbox is THE console to get if you want to play online. But the xbox also succeeded in helping former PC gamers get used to console gaming. aand the Xbox has the best system link and LAN gameplay

Nintendo doesn't like to support Rockstar they feel it damages their image. Nintendo also doesn't like selling more system apparently. I am going with Xbox--better than any current system. If you would like me to explain I can later, right now I am to lazy. :)
Also you would be surprised but Xbox has a lot of GOOD 1st party titles but their biggest, outselling all on GC, Halo overshadows them. Crimson Skies, Rallisport Challenge, Project Gotham Racing, Project Gotham Racing 2, Mech Assault, Top Spin, Oddworld are all very good titles. There is even more 1st party titles coming for Xbox this year as well that may very well be A+++ titles such as Fable, BC, Halo 2 (the ender of all games-your god-will ruin lives-you cannot escape), Jade Empire, True Fantasy Live Online, a lot of new Japanse Microsoft titles that have potential, and more. Keep in mind four of these titles are RPGs-that is just from 1st party.

actually gta isn't comming on gc because rockstar is afraid that they'll lose profit, gc doesn't have a large mature user base like ps2 or xbox
and jade empire is gonna rock tripple a title for sure

Really? I'm sure some titles have managed just as much if not more than HALO.
SSB:M, maybe? The last I heard, HALO topped three million - I'm sure SSB:M has done that. It sold nearly 2 million in America alone, hasn't it? Easily 1 million+ in Japan. Not too sure about Europe.

GC has alot of good 1st party titles. some kids can only have 1 so the stats are more spread out for the big N.

You have a point - sure there are a lot of updates, such as SMS...but they're GOOD. I mean, me personally, I didn't see much difference between Mario Bros 3 and Mario World. SMW was still awesome.
New stuff - Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, Pikmin and coming soon: Geist, Donkey Konga (It's confirmed for Europe and USA/Canada according to C-E, the music tracks are being selected) etc.
