Are you kidding? Thats the best ****ing news Ive heard all day. I might *gasp* actually buy an entry in the series if they actually do get the hell away from World War 2 - the single most tired FPS setting ever.

Terrorist games are getting overused now anyway
Ghost Recon
Ghost Recon 2
GRAW
Rainbow six .... how many of those are there
Americas Army
Americas Army: Special Forces
Battlefield 2
and now Call of Duty.
How about a World War 1 game?.

WOOT?????? ..... No? Yes? Maybe?
And Krion, if a series is about tactical battling, why would the GHOSTS in recon, all of a suden start fighting in a big war?
If Rainbow six is also about that why would it change.
Thats like saying they should make Lengend of Zelda Kart.
World War I is not as popular, and isn't viewed as being as important as WWII. WWII had the biggest effect on the world.

Way more people died in World War 1 than 2, but a WW1 game could be pretty awesome, The Gallipoli raid I would love too play.

The link doesn't work for me, but I'm guessing this is another 'built from the ground up' version like Spiderman? Nice job Activision.

lol, that's only because it was the most recent World War. When World War III comes around it's going to be the 'popular' one. ;)

WWI had the bigger effect on the world (although less directly) since it was the cause of Nazi Germany coming about, and the resulting WWII.
ANYWAY, wow, awesome news. I've dropped over a hundred hours into Call of Duty 2 (PC) online, and if the third one and the modern day one both make it to the Revolution, at least I won't have to buy a new graphics card. Here's to the controller being as accurate and easier-to-use than a mouse. (Not saying it will be though, just hoping the controls will rival that of the PC's) I think I'm sold for a launch purchase, considering the outcome of E3, of course.

It wasn't Nazi germany, it was the german government, just the regular government.
Regardless, it was the more memorable war.
Go make a game about wwI and see how well it sells.

I think one of the problems here is that weapons during the first World War are much more primitive than those used in the Second World War....this is one of the main factors, I think, that tends to deter deveolpers from making these types of games.
There's a Half-Life mod, "The Trenches" out there. It's ok, although, it's basically just a DoD clone.

they should do korea next, or vietnam. no one wants to play an anti terrorist game. they all suck. though cod would probably be the only one to pull off one that is totally amazing.

I guess I missed something but I didn't see in that initial article anywhere that Call of Duty was going to be ruined by going into a counterstrike terrorism like knockoff instead of WW2 which is the entire point of the series.
yeah Jeff, I didn't find any of that there either, lol

Yeah, rather pathetic that the gaming industry goes through this stupid childish behavior come round April 1st. So dumb....wish they would quit

I think I read somewhere that nobody made WWI games because they'd be boring as hell. WWI was all trench warfare so it's nowhere near as exciting as WWII games.

^yeah, crap, I forgot to bring up the Trench warfare, lol, but yeah, I think you are right Jason, I think that is another factor that deters developers from this time period.
Again, I recommend you Steam people to try out "The Trenches" just for the hell of it. It does have many trench maps, and they operate very similar to DoD. Not many people actually play the mod anymore, but you can get lucky sometimes and find a decent server from time to time. It's not like an amazing game or anything, but I do give it props for a couple of things that they implemented in the mod.

What are you talking about? After WWI, the allies laid the blame squarely on Germany's shoulders, forcing them to commit a massive payout and therefore destroying the country's economy. Because of this, Hitler's rise was made possible, and the institution of the Nazi government came about. Just saying, mate.
