No, I have 3mbps connection. It's the size of the graphic that is the problem. I only have 256MB RAM, so that may be the issue, but I know there are people who have 56MB RAM and slow connections....

Overall, it's just slow and lags the page when I scroll past your posts (as if I'd read most of them).

Yes, at the mo I'm on a corporate LAN. At home I have a 750k connection, and 512MB memory. This machine (at work) has only 128mb and it handles my sig fine so I doubt it's your memory.

Since having the sig up (several months now) you're the only person to complain about it.

How odd - if anything, I'd have thought it'd be the size of the file (thus, tranfer time) that would be worthy of complaint, but once it's in memory, it should load at the same speed. Maybe your lack of memory means that it's going to the page file. But still... weird.

Actually, now that I think about it, big images used to slow down as they rendered on my old comp's screen. Guess that must mean it's your video card. Ahh well. :/

What Os do you guys have? If you're on XP or other 2000 code based OSes, yeah, you might wanna consider going to 512. But if you're on a 98 or below OS, it probably isn't worth the effort. I think the sweet-spot in terms of investment-versus-return with 98 is something like 128mB, after that Windows can't really make much use of it.

I'm on XP both at home and at work (they just stupidly upgraded without upgrading any machine componants so everything is uber slow!).

I get paid next wed and should be picking up another 512MB to up my home machine to 1GB mem, which will help with all my video manipulation as I use my PC as a VCR as well as everything else.

What did everybody do for Independance Day? My friend (Cheese0089) had his annual 4th of July Party so that's where I was. It was a lot of fun, volley ball, baseball, fire works, swimming, drunk karaoke, lol. Then we stayed up all night having a Metroid Prime race to see who could beat it first from start to finish. I lost the race but I made it to the fight with Prime. We played it for 11 hours straight without getting up and I'm really tired right now. :P

I'm thinking about maybe taking out a gym membership or buying some weights to improve my abysmal upper-body strength.

Has anyone heard of Gunbound (http://gunbound.net)? My friend introduced me to it, I love it. It's almost-kinda-sorta like Worms, but faster and cuter. Tho no where near as funny or unpredictable.

Yeah, love the game, though I'll tell you, contrary to what you said, it is a bit slower than worms--your range of movement is quite a bit smaller, but you can have up to 8 people in the same game, so it is pretty fun. I used to play quite a bit, but i haven't touched it for awhile. I still got it, though, but i hear it's going into pay to play pretty soon...

We got Metal Arms: Glitch in the System yesterday, its actually really good, i would reccomend it to everyone. Oh and we got a copy of GTA: VC for the computer. Would you belive it was first time i'd played it. Up until now i'd only played GTA III. Its fun as hell, i love doing stunts. And to my suprise it runs like a dream, full view distance and everything, not even GTA III did that.

Yeah, GTA3 had "fog" to mask the fact that it was unable to draw to far into the distance, but vice city is nice in that respect. Somehow, though, I still prefer the overhead style of GTA and often change the camera angle to that in the newer installments of GTA. Probably because of the arcade feel, or maybe nostalgia.

King Arthur. Decent movie. Saw it a week or two ago (I dunno, it was the second day of showing) and while it's decent, it is a little predictable. A few of the fight scenes are well done (like at the river--you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it).

It's not that it's BAD...it's just not as good as the first.. and the graphics kind of suck (grainy and choppy in places) and the repetition for getting Hero points makes it get tedious after an hour or so.. and the webslinging isn't as fun (in terms of swinging through the city). I just don't think it's as good as the first...

Atkins is not as healthy as South Beach Diet... I'd recommend South Beach, because unlike Atkins, carbs are slowly introduced back into the diet. Atkins is basically NEVER eating carbs again.... sorry, I don't know about you guys, but I need my pizza fix every now and again.

Never heard of Blizzard Beach, but we did go to Water Country USA. That was a lot of fun but I got a horrible sun burn from it. Then my shoulders started to peel and the itching was even worse then the burning. :(

But yeah, cheese, Blizzard Beach is in DisneyWorld. And so is Typhoon Lagoon, the one with the little sharks and the eight-foot-high waves in the wave pool. Ou of both of my trips there i only went to blizzard beach, and it sucked.

OMG i went to c Muse and The DArkness in concert yesterday! Awesome i tell you guys rock n roll 7 hours non stop ! Although there was this band called Dionysos ( not sure if its right ) which are french : they were crazy as sh!t jumping in the crowd every 2 seconds and they looked like they were on cocaine >>>> very entertaining stufff !

Oh and i forgot Dj st-plomb !!!!! Great music ! ( ok so its a bit out of my rock n rolll but who cares when its one of the best dj's in the world !).

Thought you'd all apreciate a blog-style rundown of my current life. So there :P

I'm pretty busy ATM, and somehow in one day, everything went from that feeling of dread you get when you think you're about to go spinning into a dark of vortex of... uh, badness, to absolute perfection.

I've been having time-management problems lately, managing these boards, doing school stuff, socialising (gasp!), playing videogames (God forbid I'd have enough time to do that), etc. So when I realised that I hadn't done any study for two big tests b/c I'd wasted three hours last night being introduced to Achaea, the MUD that has dominated the lives of two of my friends for the past year or so, I was getting a little panicky.

And then, the two big things got moved, I had a great day, laughed a bit (as one does when one has been cheered up), I had a talk with my mates (that's kinda related to the laughing), I found an Author Alert telling me that another chapter of that cool fanfic I now like had been completed waiting for me, and I realised that it was marginally, almost, fractionally, probably-not-but-worth-trying-anyway possible to manage all of these things in 24-hour blocks. I think I may have almost achieved it, and my awful day somehow transformed into a great one.

I'm feeling peachy now, in case you hadn't noticed. :]

Well, the definitions of a living thing are:

# Movement
# Feeding
# Respiration
# Growth
# Reproduction
# Sensitivity to stimuli

1. Movement. They do move, yes, but not on their own. Dismissed.
2. Feeding. They are filled up with more H20 particles, but no, they don't actually consume energy. Dismissed.
3. Respiration. They don't take in food so they can't process it. Dismissed.
4. Growth. They become more massive, yes, but clouds themselves aren't an object--they're basically just a pile of water vapors. Dismissed.
5. Reproduction. Mommy cloud and Daddy cloud != baby cloud. Also, the cloud does not itself produce more peices of cloud, so even asexual reproduction is ruled out. Dismissed.
6. Sensetivity to stimuli. When it gets cold, they turn into rain droplets. However, this is not a response, but merely a compression and cohesion of the water particles. Dismissed.

So, in conclusion, clouds are not and can not be a living thing. However, I'm definately interested in what you have to say about it --~
