for the record, the majority of japan is buddhist, if religious at all, so it's not surprising it's not christian in tone.

Actually, most of Japan is Shinto. This is why Shinto Monks in anime are almost always bearers of a wonderful power or great benificent knowlage and Buddist monks are almost always either totally currupt or possed by demons!

My Flatmate loves Angel Sanctuary (well, she loves anything by Kaouri Yuki).
Most anime that use christian symbolisim don't do so out of blasphemic ideals, but mearly because the imagery "looks cool".

And man....why make android 17 bad again??...he ended up cool in DBZ...

Maybe it's cause you guys have been watching the Cartoon Network version....cause they cut pretty much all the beggining eps of it....cause even they knew it bores you to death...they just went and aired the good ones only....

i have to agree with whoever mentioned that Yu-Gi-Oh is no good lol. i mean, i could understand the character's morals and beliefs, but the point is, the actually card game. It's like, at one moment, you have the utmost best monster out on the field, and the next moment, you unleash some type of magic to repel it.. anyways, that example sucked.. what i'm trying to say is the formula used for the "unlimited" amount of cards makes it, in my opinion, stupid. You could have a card that kills all your monsters in 1 turn, or you could have a card that lets you go 5 turns in a row.. you know, the possibilities are endless which makes it pointless.

I'm sure a few people here watches Naruto. The same formula is used there. An unlimited amount of jutsus..."blahblah-jutsu" can let you create a reinforced shield made outta gold, or "blahblah-jutsu" can let you fly lol.. i'm being a little sarcastic and exaggerative, but that's how it's done.

Saying he doesn't like anime is like saying "I don't like ice cream." Is that BASHING ice cream? No -- it's just stating you don't like the taste (I'll assume it's the taste...)

Anyway, what I'm saying is Sean didn't bash and he doesn't have to give any reasons -- it's his opinion. I can't say I blame him. I'm not a fan of anime or cartoons in general. I'm not going to say they suck because I will occasionally have my television on after I get home from school and it'll be on the WB while I'm online. But the point is, I'm not a fan of it. I don't have to give YOU reasons as to why I don't like it -- I know my reasons. It just doesn't attract me. What type of genre do you not like? For gaming, of course. hmm, this is quite a debate.. but you can't argue about what kinda feeling you get from Sean's comment "hmm worst anime... how bout all of it".. i'm thinking it's definitely a bit more on the offensive side as he did add in a slight irony and "cockiness" per say.. i'm assuming rogue wouldn't of wrote sucha attacking response if Sean had just wrote "I don't like anime".

Rogue did respond in a very formal way despite the comment, yet his/her second paragraph was a retaliated and disguised offense. But i could understand rogue's point of view, for i love anime myself.. rogue naturally had to respond bcause i know, anime fans are extremely passioniate about it.

Anime is a very unique art form, due to the reflections of Japanese culture: the music, the vision, emotion, plot, inspiration, characters, etc.. And anyways, I'm assuming we're all gaming fans.. and where do all [good] games come from? hehe ;]

Well anyway, both sides went overboard, and in my opinion, this situation should not be taken THIS seriously.

Well, I honestly don't see how anybody can dislike anime UNLESS they dislike animation all together (notice I did not say 'cartoons'). Anime is the most diverse form of animation there is, and there is almost ALWAYS a genre within anime that one person will like. Anime is just as diverse as television as a whole. you like movies, right? What kind of movies? There is an anime series or movie that is in the same genre or has the same feel as any movie or televsion show that you can name. (save reality TV shows, of course. And if you like those, then you don't deserve anime). Even Rugrats has it's anime counterpart, Bottle Fairy. So you don't have the right to say that all anime is bad, you just think that because all you've probably seen is the americanized crap (which is all the same, anyway). I don't meen that be be offensive at all, and maybe you HAVE seen a wider varety of anime, but you just haven't seen one that you've liked.

And this thread should not be "worst anime," but "worst POPULAR anime." This was done with videogames at PGC...it wasn't worst game, but worst "popular" game. There's always this unheard of, un-aired (in US) anime that is most likely much worse than anything mentioned in this thread. It's just that nobody's heard of it (which is probably for the best =p)

The worst popular anime I'VE SEEN has to be any of the Dragon Ball series. That show has gone on WAY too long. The fight scenes are also ridiculously long. Now, I honestly don't mind fights that take episodes to resolve, but DB does in this long, drawn out, tedious fasion that I just can't bare. There's pointless talking, and there's of course the infamous "charge up" sequences. The fights are also not very exiting to watch. Watching one large energy ball hit another is just NOT exciting, nor is single punches that make a guy fly back 100 feet into a rock only to come out unscathed.

I'm not far in "Naruto," butI know many people who are, and fights in that anime take many, MANY episodes to complete. But from every account I've heard, and from the one "large" (relative to the earlier ones) battle I've seen is at least fast-paced and interesting...

After reading (most) of this thread, I guess my response is aimed more towards the posts AFTER Sean's in which they agreed. As Sean DID start the fire, the people after him were much more rude about it. And yes, I suppose you could dislike the art style, but I don't feel like that's a very good reason. Take Wind Waker. It's an astounding game, and not playing it for the SOLE reason of not likeing cel shading is, in my opinion, ignorent. It IS, though, better, than just following "celda is teh ghey," I'll give you that. So I suppose that if you really, honestly can't stand the animation, you have the right to say you don't like any of it. (NOT that 'it's all bad')

(funfact -- OoT's style is considered "anime" ;))

I absolutely agree with you on this, except for one show that I have seen: Cowboy Bebop. The dubbing is on par with, if not better than, the original voice acting. I especially love Ed's voice in the English dubbing a considerable amount better than the Japanese voice.

Duel Monsters perhaps? It was most likely Yu-Gi-Oh. And to the person who asked about the "cards.......with mosters in them?" They don't really have monsters in them, the monsters you see are really holographs. When the card is put into a projector, the "monsters come out." I'm guessing they did this because they were planning on making a card game, and if little dudes thought that they were using the same cards as the guys in the anime it would be "cooler" and they would buy more. Because basically the characters are playing the exact same thing, only with projectors to show the battle. And they didn't want to copy pokemon TOO much. ;)

well nowadays, cel-shading is considered anime, and i never even considered OoT to be anime ;x but it's cool to categorize it like that. ;)

Princess Mononoke had decent english dubbing due to the fact Disney worked on it.. i never watched cowboy bebop on english dubs ;x

Well, yes, the cel shading DOES look more like anime, but during the whole "celda" ordeal, people categorized OoT's art style as "anime" to prove that OoT was not as realistic as thought to be. I'm guessing because of the character models. I guess if zelda were to be made into an anime, the best models would be OoT's.....

I didn't watch Princess Mononoke in japanese so i wouldn't know. but the acting wasn't bad in english.

Yeah, Inuyasha is pretty high up there. I'm up around 140 something with the Japanese Subs. It does keep going and going though it seems... The dub isn't that bad, though I enjoy the subs a bit more.

There was also some talk about Naruto upwards in the topic. I've seen all episodes currently released and I've enjoyed them all. They're ALOT faster paced then DBZ. The most a fight will go on episodes wise might be 3, maybe 4 at the most but those are rare. Compare it to the 40 episode long fights from DBZ.

My friend thinks all anime is dumb. His reasoning is that "cartoons" should be funny and stuff, he doesn't like the idea of seriousness in animation. I can accept his dislike for it, but I just don't think his reasoning is logical.
