Boondock, I've said it before and I'll say it again. You're an angry guy.

I don't know if Peter Jackson will make a Hobbit movie, but I know that there already is one, and it is wonderful. As a matter of fact, there was already a Lord of the Rings movie before the Peter Jackson ones. They are animated and have singing and the animals talk, they rock. You guys should check them out. --~

I am sure that the company is already trying to do it whether Peter Jackson is with them or not on it...too much money it would make even if it was a flop.

I think they should make an animated movie based on the Silmarillon. That would rock!

The Silmarillon is basically the Creation Myth and history of Middle Earth, before the Lord of the Rings saga.

i think that they need to leave things alone right now, or people will get sick of that shit. and the silmarillon sucks. i've always said this, but tolkien's work outside of LotR and the hobbit is mediocre at best. and his son's is even worse. if peter jackson doesn't do it, i doubt the film will get made. i don't want even peter jackson to do it...i just want the hobbit left alone. isn't three movies enough?

I respect your opinions, Boondock, but could you please tone down your anger concerning this topic? Other people have opinions, so please try to respect them.

Peter Jackson can't make this movie because New Line doesn't own the rights to The Hobbit. If there was an agreement between New Line and the company that owns the rights to make a movie of The Hobbit, perhaps, but that's not going to happen until 2007 at the most.

I was a J.R.R. Toilkien fan before the movies. I will give you that they were a little confusing but besides that they were freakin' great.

And those first animated versions of the movies sucked!

i agree. i was a tolkien fan as well, but i realize the limitations of his work outside of the tales of the baggins family, and how they're really just genre work and not literature in the same sense that LotR and the hobbit are. i stand steadfastly by my saying that tolkien was mediocre in his other works as well.

the cartoons are unbelievably bad, and completely unrepresentative of tolkien's work. i will admit, though, that the hobbit cartoon is not really all that bad, and that i watch it when on cartoon network and whatnot b/c it's actually fun to watch. LotR, though, completely sucked. it wasn't even completed, and if someone cites the cartoon 'RotK', i'll punch them in the kidneys. god awful about sums it up.

the hobbit needs to be left alone. i'm sorry if that's a different opinion from yours paladin, but so's my opinion about pretty much everything you think, so i don't really care if you think i'm overly angry about it. it's not anger, by the way, it's just me recognizing a bad idea when i see one.

Oh, are those those books about the history of Middle Earth and stuff like that? I heard that shit is boring as hell. --~

I know, Matt. It would never work between us. I'm a barber's son and that's the way it is. But I just don't want to wake up just yet. --~
