In this thread you can ask people to rate your sig and avatar. On all of the forums I've been on this is usually out of 10.

Serj, I give yours a 5. It's nice but the background looks extremely easy, or maybe a premade? It's better than what I can do, no doubt, though. lol Also, the font (and effect) is weak, and Kane now has no mask. ;) (He looks better with it though, so the banner looks better)
Erad., yours is good and all, but doesn't it look like there are jagged edges? Poor quality, or intentional? Either way it looks bad. Not fond with the font, either. I guess I give yours about a 7.5
Mine is old from Sam, and it was created to be simplistic because that's how Mario 3 is. Rate anyway, I guess.
I may try to learn PS one day....lol....

The jagged edges are a result of the lack of anti-aliasing, something I'll try next time. I give yours 9 because I like SMB 3. GBA... yours is simplistic enough, but the centerpiece area is too light.

Much better text and the metal is cool.
The only problem I have is that there are some jagged edges on the left side.

I give it 8.5. That light green black-ish shade really bothers me and I think it's because of the way you beveled it. Other than that it's an improvement.

Kind of a strange design, the chrome filter type bit around the out side of it is annoying me. But besides that it's pretty good.

Thank you! It is actually only two pictures going back and forth of my brother. It makes me laugh because he is shiny. I am spreading it across the internet so maybe he will come across his head someday when he is browsing the net. I plan on making a new motion one soon.

Eradikatus: Man, that is a great sig! 9/10, because I wanna leave you some room for improvement :p Plus, I think those edged near the bottom middle somewhat take away from the overall design... It's probably better than just straight lines, but there has to be a better alternative... Just seems the sharpness and the overall smoothness of the rest of the sig don't blend well. Also, is that an acolyte there to the left? Ragnarok Online? Fun game.
Dark_Fox: 8.5/10, nice look. There is, however a tiny bit of unappeal that I really can't put a finger on... Very well done, though. I also like the fact that you don't think you have to take up the whole allowed space. Bigger isn't always better.

Dark_Fox: 9/10 I like how the grid isn't overpowering, which is common lately. The banana doesn't really fit with the rest of the sig, but I can tell it's an abstract peice, so yeah, that works. My only negative is that the text, "Formerly known as Dark_Fox" doesn't look good. It is informative, but whatever.

I have to make a brand new sig, cause I lost the raw files for my old one, and it really goes against the board's skin.
Could you help me a bit for it, though? I'm looking to make a bar (something that I guess looks kinda like an beam) out of my name, so I need a font that uses letters with a flat top and bottom. I used to have something like that on my old computer, but I only have the default fronts on this one >_<
Anyways, if you could help, that'd be great. Then I just gotta get to spriting and I can make one for you to make fu--I mean constructively criticize... ^_^;;

the font is Acknowledge TT, it's doesn't come with windows so you'll have to download it. I'm not sure where you could get it from, a friend gave it to me.

Alright, my sig is done, and thanks for the help, Eradicatus. Btw, it's not meant to be much, so it isn't :p
Though if anyone can suggest a suitable background (has to be 16-bit or under to "suit" the rest of the sig) then let me know, as it'd probably look better than just having a transparent background.

haha, really? I didn't expect to score high at all, cause I really didn't use any "photoshop techniques". Just grabbed some sprites from games (I found the earthbound, baloon fight, and ice climbers sprites on the net, and I made the rest of 'em) and put 'em in there. I might switch link's sword, though, because it's kinda hard to see it on a white/offwhite background...

Well I had a bit of time this arvo so I made a Viewtiful Joe sig. The thing I don't like about it is the jaggies around Joe. I tried to resize it (smaller so the edges look smoother) but then the transperant background disappears when I save it again. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Arbiter and JustUsOwls sigs are the best i've seen thus far :D

You can get rid of the jaggies by using anti-aliasing. It just takes the pixels and smooths them out to blend out into the background. If you're using PSP, take the lasso or selector tool on the layer with the objects on it, cut it, making sure that "use anti-aliasing" is checked in the "tool options window". Then, go edit>paste>as transparent object, and that'll do it.
As far as photoshop goes, I really have no idea >_<

Anti-aliasing takes out the entire multi-usability of transparent-background sigs.

That's about as clear and anti-aliased as you can get. The drop shadow gets kind of screwed up when you post on the darker grey background, though.

The font is whack, if it's a font. Probably multiple fonts. The background makes the sig look like the audio equivalent of what you get when you open a JPEG file for an MP3. The two symbols to the right are both "er", in different characters and meanings. I really don't know what the hell this is, but it's interesting.

Pissed 'cause every avie I try to upload here seems to be invalid....would've been nice since it's supposed to be like an avie/sig combo...
By the way....guy's name is Setsuna as you see and he's from Last Blade... a sword fighting game of SNK...

Erad: very nice, but the label in the top corner looks a bit like ink running; it's a bit of a strain on the eyes. Not as good as the original, but still great :D
I use Macromedia Fireworks for my sigs and avatars - it's got an easie rlearning curve, IMO, but is still as powerful (if not more) as Photoshop when it coems to web graphics. Also, it works quite well with vector graphics, which is always a plus.
I've got... not so much an avatar or sig, but a logo that I want to try out when I get back from Japan. Kind of unoriginal, but meh :p It's based on a design I sketched in a book - I have a photo, but it's extremely poor, so don't expect any wonders from it. My crappy drawing doesn't help, LOL:

GBA, your sig's really good. Only complaints from me are:
Bottom-left edge is cut on a funny angle, it's a bit jagged.
The left image is a bit blurry.

Haha, paladins are just basic holy knights in many, many rpgs. For example, there's a paladin class in many final fantasy games, Diablo II, etc.
BTW, GBA, nice sig, RE4, good and dark. If I may make a suggestion, though, I think it'd be cool if you did something else with transparency rather than just cut corners. You can do some cool stuff with it, as you know (erad is notorious for using transparency creatively) Anyways, I think just using it to cut corners is a bit... overdone. It's stand out alot better if you tried something unique.
Btw, i think you should get an avatar that fits your name. I'd actually like to make a suggestion of an animated one you could make from existing pictures/animations.
You know that GBA:SP animation Nintendo has on their site? The one that lets you open and close the GBA? I figure you could take that to make it. I'm thinking something like a blank space, and in a few seconds' time, the gba:sp screen flips up into view, turning on to display the GBA bootup screen (also fully animated). Also, if you're confident with your animating (and a tiny bit of text editing) skills, you could just take the letters "GBA' out of the word "GAMEBOY ADVANCE" and make them hop into the screen and flash just like the official ones do. It'd be really sweet.

Your's is okay, but the JPEG compression shows up a bit. Maybe you could re-do it in GIF, if it didn't have the many colours... otherwise, good :D
I have a brand new sig, just in time for the festive season. What does everyone think? It's the result of many a night, building custom plugins for Microsoft Paint using C++... the sig itself took about twenty seconds. ;)

It took me awhile to realize the second pic was Roy,and I know the first is chun-li, but who are the others? Btw, the face in the thirs looks deformed, and takes away from the general appeal of the sig. I'd change it to someone else (or a better picture) if I were you.
Amidst all of this arguing over whose sig is a copy or not, I'm happy to have a completely original sig :p
Although it's nothing special, at least there won't be any arguing whether or not I stole the idea from someone else, or someone else stole the idea from me :D

The yellow stroke from the bar sticks out past the actual signature. It would be cooler if the girl's hand went over the bar, while the rest stayed under it, to give it some depth. The text is kinda blurry as well.

I know you made that background yourself, and it's amazing. The font for the "The Mystery is Gone" is pretty cool.

well, your sigs have always been arguably the best in the gca forums, so people enjoy seeing new sigs when you put them up. I personally really like it, and your style seems to be rubbing off a bit to other users. Is it possible to code a random sig generator, where upon refreshing the page, a different sig of yours pops up? It'd be interesting to be able to see all of your previous works instead of just the newest one.

I thought Scarecrow was doing that, where like a new sig came up every few minutes or so. That was cool.

that's exactly what i had in mind. If it were animated, the same sig would always appear when the page first loaded. Now, for it to be randomized, you might need to host the original images off-site, then have some code that randomizes the actual sig that the page brings up. I'm no expert at html, so i'm not exactly sure how it would work, but I know it's possible.

You had Sam design your sig, didn't you? Currently, I don't see many like it, and the anti-aliasing was pulled off nicely. I sort of have a problem with the right side, since the space between the two pieces is different for each line. Also, the bottom line for the border around your name isn't quite as solid and definite as the one above. But those are just nitpicks.

looks pretty good, blends in very well with the boards. However, the trantition between the triangle and the bracket looks a little unconvincing, and the shadows on both sides of the bracket are just reversed (where is the light coming from?)
Good, original idea, however, and good overall design. I'd give it 9.3/10.
btw, since the word insanity is in a different style and font, (and not being italicised) it sits a little to the left in comparison to the rest of the words. Maybe nudging it over would add a little to the overall appearance, as it look a little too close to the bracket and a little far away from the word "is".
