View Full Version : What speed?
How fast is you internet connection? Me. I'm at 56k.
High Speed Download - 3.0 Mbps, sometimes though it tests 3.2 Mbps... I guess ISP does that so people stay happy if they drop 200k still at 3.0 Mbps.
My upload sucks though, just 256k. Problem with residental broadband is asymmetrical. A 2.0 Mbps both way would be a lot better.

3megabits per second cable. You can check your speed here (http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/).

I got the same thing, we must have the exact same Comcast service.

I'm on 56k. Too poor to afford ADSL now..but soon..
Welcome back The Laminator. It says the test won't be acurate because I don't live in the US or Canada.

Mines 56k. It does its job, though very slowly sometimes.

Running a steady 2.1 megabits/sec. and loving every minute of it........unless, of coarse, it goes down, at which time I feel lost and alone............................
Well, I got the crappy 56k
I have ADSL, and although it's only at 1.2 (slow in comparison to a lot of yours), I think my upload is likely faster. It's generally more consistant too. I can access GCAdvanced.com too. lrmfoflfma
I done that test and it said I was going at 40K. :(:(:(

I used to be a AOL user.....and I got the same disc too....
I won't go back, they suck.
If you want to check your speed do two of these east coast speed tests:
http://wdc.speakeasy.net (Wasington, D.C.)
http://phi.speakeasy.net (Philadelphia, PA)
http://nyc.speakeasy.net (New York, NY)
http://bos.speakeasy.net (Boston, MA)
Then do the west coast, which is in Los Angeles, CA: http://lax.speakeasy.net
Average them and that should be near your speeds.... provided you tweaked [check out pcpitstop.com they have a tweaking thing.]

1.1 megabits per second says bandwidthplace.com
Your download speed : 5554482 bps, or 5554 kbps.
A 678 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 941324 bps, or 941 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
says http://nyc.speakeasy.net
so....i guess it's ok for me...
Spartacus... you have over 5.5 Mbps down and almost 1 Mbps upload. That is awesome. Are you in a college or at home on Cable?
Personally, I'd like to have a OC-192 so I can get like 1000 Mbps, but I could settle for a T3 :D
Anything over 56k is good enough for me, especially if it doesn't use the phone line :p
Get Cable, it is faster than DSL for like the same price.
