Well it's directed by the same guy who did Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil so...... I dunno. I would much rather have had Cameron come back to do it, but you never know.

Also I believe it's a prequel to Alien.

I think it's going to kick some ACE. I'm looking forward to it big time. I like Predator better. --~

Predator > Alien

Hellz Yea

O and BTW I think Jason vs Mike Myers would have been better than Freddy vs Jason, they are more alike. But Freddy rulez all.

alien will kick the predators' asses...

and freddy rules all indeed. and, sad to say, michael myer's owners won't give the rights to newline, no matter how bad the next halloween turns out to be...

last i heard it was gonna be freddy vs. jason vs. ash (from army of darkness)...

i think that will suck hardcore, b/c ash is ten times cooler than the other guys...

Excuse me... I ALMOST thought I read "Ash" and "suck" in the same sentence, and it wasn't "If Ash were there it wouldn't suck."

I just read it again, and you did use those two words in the same sentence. Matt, you of all people. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash would rule, unless Ash lost, that would just be TOO fictional for my taste.

Predator will always bring down one Alien, the Aliens's only prayer is to swarm a small number of Predators. And Jason is better than Freddy, Freddy is just more charismatic and has more style. --~

From CountingDown (http://www.countingdown.com/movies/3224180/news?item_id=3237870) :

October 21, 2003 — Bruce Campbell spoke to AICN about what is really happening with all the Ash talk at New Line:

"What's more likely--not much more likely, but a little more likely than Evil Dead 4)--is the other rumor concerning Ash vs. Freddy vs. Jason. We have been talking about doing an Ash loan out, like actors used to do when they were under contract, loan out an actor to another studio. In this case, we'd loan the character of Ash. But it would have to be contractual that Ash would have to kick both their asses. He would have to win, or I wouldn't do it. The idea has been bandied about on a purely bullshit level by junior executives at New Line who may not have the sperm to kick it up to the decision-making level. If anyone was really serious, the franchises would have to talk."

Our man Bruce - the smooth talker ;)

Don't get me wrong, The Man has some competitors, Kevin Smith, Steve Buscemi, Johnny Depp just to name a few, but you CAN NOT be Bruce "The Man" Cambell simply because he's way way too kick ass. He's unbeatable. --~

EDIT: I meant beat, not be, you CAN NOT beat Bruce. --~

We are in agreement sir... on all counts :D

Boondock Saint
01-21-2004, 11:39 AM
dude, they don't call him THE MAN, for nothing, right?

and of course, he would HAVE to win, but that's not the issue...the issue is how are they gonna be able to pull off something as COOL as ASH fighting something as borderline cool as freddy and jason? second of all, how would their universes even fit together?

god, i just want evil dead 4...

Didn't you see the Necronomicon in Jason Goes to Hell? It was in the Vorhese house I think. The guy was looking through some stuff and picked up the Necronomicon. It was the same one from Evil Dead, maybe not the same exact one, but the same design. --~

Boondock Saint

yeah, i know what you're talking about, but c'mon...the line has to be drawn somewhere in all of this...jason goes to hell had so many things just thrown into it in attempts to link the horror genre together...like freddy's glove pulling jason's mask down, the necronomicon, etc...

I say we just get Bruce Willis to kick everyone's asses. It would be done and dead right on the spot. No chance in hell The Willis would get his ass kicked.

In the Shed in Evil Dead II you see Freddy's glove hanging up too.

Boondock Saint
01-21-2004, 03:16 PM
well, yeah, you do, but sam raimi threw that in there as an homage to the other genre films. i'm not saying it's impossible, i'm just saying it shouldn't be done. i don't think of them as being even on the same level...freddy and jason, yes, but not ash...he's completely different...and NOT a serial killer. get my drift? how will they make the plot work?

Professor Go
01-21-2004, 04:37 PM
I agree with Boondock in that I think it will be a little bit too much - Evil Dead, I do not categorize as a "slasher" flick. Evil Dead is a very stylized horror franchise that has evolved into more of a darkly humorous B-Movie and I don't think could be compared or mixed with Freddy and Jason.

Raimi would have to direct the movie to even get Ash to resemble himself - I wouldn't want to see Ash onscreen if he didn't direct it. Also, you would have to infuse the entire movie with tons of humor (the last Evil Dead movie was SO slapstick and funny) and I think that partly ruins the "feel" of Freddy vs. Jason for me.

I just don't think they all mesh.

Just like this insane Pinhead vs. Michael Myers idea that was out for a while. WHY!?!?!?!?

i got two werds fer you all...night of the living dead 4! or dawn of the dead or watever it's being called....it's gonna rock the haus!

Professor Go
01-21-2004, 04:59 PM
Well.. Night of the Living Dead 4 won't be made for a while.. and Dawn of the Dead is a remake of the original.

BUT THEY'RE STILL GOING TO ROCK ;)

Lots of zombies this year.. Resident Evil 2, Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead.. and last year was also good for zombies with 28 Days Later and all those zombie-like Matrix fans who thought Reloaded and Revolutions were good!

yeah, ur rite, but the new night of the living dead is coming out, i saw the trailer, i think it's day of the dead....i dunno

Professor Go
01-21-2004, 05:28 PM
Hehe no it's Dawn of the Dead, I'm sure.

Night of the Living Dead = 1st Romero zombie movie
Dawn of the Dead = 2nd, takes place in a mall
Day of the Dead =3rd, takes place in a military installation

This "new" one is a remake of Dawn of the Dead from the 70's.

Lovebird

all right w/e, as long as it's a new night of the living dead mashooganuh!

Boondock Saint
01-21-2004, 06:26 PM
actually, romero's been trying to get the fourth film in the series made for awhile now...i think it's tentatively titled "Dead Wake" or something to that effect...

anyways, the remake is going to rock, even though i find remakes usually worthless...especially in the case of "Dawn".

and i'm really looking forward to RE2, and i've heard some stuff about "shaun". what have you heard about it? i'm sure it's more than me.

i love zombies...it's my favorite horror genre...

If you watch on DVD you find that the whole "Freddy Glove" thing was a bit of a directorial in-joke, along with many posters visable in film.

Dawn Of The Dead is the latest remake, and does look really fine!

The inclusion of Ash could work. Just make it Freddy and Jason VS Ash. Hellz yea, that would be kickass. O yea and the Dawn Of The Dead remake is gonna be so wicked, scene the previes when I went to go see Along Came Polly. O and 28 Days Later was way kickass.

i'm gonna post the two seperate trailers for the dawn remake...they're both very different in tone, and i'm not sure that one of them has even been released in theaters yet...i'll just make a new thread for it so that people may discuss their reactions...
