I think this would be cool. If we had a Mario Kart tournament. But, only if a bunch of people were to get the whole online setup that everyones raving about. What you all think about it?

Do enough GCA members have broadband adapters?
I don't. But what sucks is the Warp Pipe doesn't allow you to pick your own character.

Yeah, that's kinda confusing as to why it doesn't.

Haha, if someone could hook me up with a BBA for under $40, I'd be in for SURE! :D
Unfortunately, though, since Nintendo pulled 'em off the shelves (PSO hacking incident) they've become alot harder to find for a decent price...

Hm, must be to do with the point at which Warp Pipe connects the machines together. Although, isn't the connection made before the Cubes are turned on? Ahh well, it'll b fixed soon enough...

You can't choose players in LAN mode, because Nintendo MADE IT THAT WAY.
It's not the Warp Pipe software that does it.

What happened? I never heard about this.
I still got my BBA from last Christmas. I'm glad I didn't sell it.

Nintendo are just not making any effort to help online. This is a total blow to me. Why dont the just make it online them selfs? Broadband adapters would fly off the shelfs for a great game like this played online.
You can't pick because that makes it harder I heard, and Nintendo wants the multiplayer to be suprising and stuff.

Everything Nintendo decided to do is surprising... ^_^

I would participate in the tournament. All I have to do is get MK:DD, a router, and download the Warp Pipe program.
Nintendo wants to make the multiplayer more of a challenge and create more replay value, thus they made the characters random for the LAN play. Remember, Warp Pipe just extends your LAN across the internet.

I was about to say the same thing. Its cooler if you play in a LAN with alot of friends if you dont know what carachters you will have. its pretty cool i think
It won't let you pick your own characters because it wasn't programmed to use the more than 1 of the same character in a race. So you can't have like 5 Marios in a race.
Yeah, but picking your own character could have been programmed into the game with checks to ensure no duplicate picks.

If Nintendo were to listen to fans... They would be doing much better!
