Nintendo Flunkers

[Nightmare]

This is the counterpart to my other thread "Nintendo Heroes."
This time we talk about failed nintendo characters; such as Banjo and Kazooie; Brian from Quest 64, though in my opinion his awesome; and of course, Buck Bumble.

Note: I don't think all these guys are lame I just took the ones most people said they hated.

And, though it's too soon to tell, Pikmin look like they're going down the drain as well.

I don't think Pikmin are going down...they've only had one game. And isn't Buck Bumble a Rare Character...as is Banjo? Didn't Rare pack them up with them when they left?

And I don't know who made Quest 64...and I never played it.

True but the "cancelled" Dead Phoenix may be revived and turned into 3d Kid Icarus. its been going around the 'net for awhile now...... and buck bumble was some ubisoft punk.

Anyways, my most hated character would have to be Waluigi. That guy is so pointless, they just threw him in so they could have more balance in the sports spin off games.

His name doesnt even make sense! Wario is a good name becuase W is an upside down M. Perfect sense. But Waluigi? Come on, his name should have been Tuigi because atleast an upside down L kinda looks like a T

Hey don't mess with my man Waluigi...I love that guy. The reason they kept with the Wa is because Wa-rio...they kept with a theme and it is better to keep themes with sounds over looks. Tuigi isn't that bad of a name but I still like Waluigi better.

Once again, you are talking about Rare, not Nintendo. Therefore, we should be talking about characters from Nintendo games, such as Mallow from Super Mario RPG.

The bisexual dino was Ninty-Conkers, not (the game wasn't shit by the way. A little short, but fun.)

I dunno if you could say Luigi...he didn't really get respect with his first solo outing in Mario is Missing (cuz name wasn't in the game name), and he didn't get a respectable game with Luigi's Mansion. Alas, he's heading for redemption with Mario & Luigi.

I'm sorry to say it, but I just played a little bit of Kid Icarus, and I find that so far, the game sucks. I will play more of it, though, in order to formulate a more informed opinion of the game.

Don't you know that Birdo was not made by Nintendo, neither was Wart, or anybody in that game other than The Mario Bros, Peach and Toad.

The game was actually made by a small third party company that nintendo bought out. The games original name was Dokey Dokey Panic, but it was changed to Mario Bros 2 to make it sell better. And Birdo was a girl, localizing games back then was such a difficult thing for Americans that keeping characters and even dialog the same was almost impossible.

See the problem with picking Flunkers is that a lot of Nintendo Characters just never had a second chance...Wart while not ORIGINALLY NINTENDO, could be a good character if done properly a second time. Like Kid Icarus...I loved that game actually...If it was given a second chance I think it would have a revival.

Haha...there is a product tester that ALWAYS suggests doing another Kid Icarus. After years of asking for it Nintendo finally told him that "We will NEVER do another game of Kid Icarus...so STOP asking for it" haha I don't see what is so wrong with it...I still love the first game and play it often.

Hey, hey, hey!!!!!! You never know what Nintendo could be planing! Maybe capcom is working on the next Kid Icarus... I mean, they made two (technically 3) Zeldas and now are making a Kirby game with Hal! Who knows what Nintendo will do with their new good buddy

I'm sorry, but I still do not think Kid Icarus deserves much respect. It seems that all you do is jump from platform to platform and shoot enemies, while collecting powerups. It would have been a lot better if the main character was in a space suit, and there was more exploration. Wait, that was already done with Metroid!

Doki Doki Panic wasn't made by Nintendo? That strikes me as odd, since there is a bit of SMB music in the game (think that underworld thingy, maybe a few more spots)

Doki Doki is actually a children's story (or a story of some kind) Nintendo didn't invent the idea...but they did make the game.

Anyways, I think kid icarus was a pretty good game. I mean, it's fun to just pick up and play. It's like a metroid where you don't have to think about where to go, and you don't have to remember what you were doing last time you played the game months ago. Just mindless fun (and challenging at further levels)

NES, dude! Kid Icarus and Metroid are basically brother and sister... After looking at the two games, nintendo decided to take metroid (the most successful of the two) and sequel-ize it.

I think that nintendo made more metroids over kid icarus for a good number of reasons. Like maybe they didn't want two games so similar to one another competing. Or it could be that whoever made the story for KI decided that there wouldn't be any way to continue it, without killing the first (remember Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross?). There could be others too

Considering the only KI was on NES i doubt it would ruin the story OR the gameplay to release a sequel on any other system since then

You never know. Nintendo is rather picky about certain things. Maybe it just the Metroid and it are so similar that they don't want them competing

Yeah... I know that... but I am saying, the reason they probably don't bring back KI is because they decided to bring back Metroid and they are too similar!

Technically it was 8 years. Super Metroid was released in 1994, and Prime was released in 2002, so its 8 years. I hope they do bring Kid Icarus back..... you can always use a new franchise, although ive heard that Dead Phoenix (despite being.... dead) will be a next-gen Kid Icarus. ah, if only rumrs came true half the time!

I hate Pikachu, but I can't list him here because of all of his success. I guess I'll say Waluigi. He was just an afterthought.

And FYI: The "Wa-" in Wario and Waluigi comes from "Waru" or "Waru-i", which is Japanese for bad or evil. It's just a coincidence that M and W look similar when inverted, and Nintendo kept up the popular, though incorrect, explanation of the "Wa-" by inverting the L on Waluigi's hat.
