What is the movie of the year last samurai, kill bill, or lord of the rings the return of the king?

Well as far as 2004 is concerned, it's gotta be Big Fish. THAT MOVIE WAS SPECTACTULAR!! I mean it too. I mean, I went in thinking that it was going to be a good movie, and it far surpassed my expectations. It was around two hours, and it felt like it was nothing, the movie didn't get stale for a single moment, incredible. Who doesn't like a good tall tail, well this one is full of them. Seriously though, this movie almost made me cry. I can only say that about one other movie, and that's Blow.
I swear, I almost bawled my eyes out the first time I saw Blow, I think the only thing that stopped me is that I was just about to start crying my eyes out, and I looked over at my older, tougher, brother and he was crying like a baby, it kind of made me laugh so it kept me from crying.
But I'm getting off topic, DAMN YOU ADHD, anyway, GO-SEE-BIG-FISH!!! --~

Texas Chainsaw Massacre :p j/k
it will most likely be lord of the rings, but Big Fish is very deserving.

Definitley Return of the King. That movie fucking ruled. Secondly, I vote Hulk. Screw the Hulk movie haters, I loved it. Seeing one of my childhood heroes smashing on the big screen...heaven. Almost teared up, seriously.
Damn, McBizzel, is Big Fish really that good?! I was just reading an article on the movie and was thinking of going to see it. Now I probably will.

Big Fish? Well Duh, it's one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year.
Scientists working for the military develop a special mutagen, and apply the mysterious liquid on a small-mouthed bass. Growing to extrordinary size, the lake dwelling tyrant goes on a orgy of destruction and mayhem, descimating most of downtown San Antonio. Thus, giving him the terrible monkier, "Big Fish"
lol
Nah, I'm kidding, I love Tim Burton flicks, but I have yet to see this one.
Personally, the best movie of the year was about that King guy, who Returned? Yeah, I love that movie. ^_^

my fave film of 2003 is a tie between 'lost in translation' and 'kill bill, vol 1'.
'big fish' is a truly awesome movie, though, and i'm surprised that no one has started a thread for it yet. it's the second movie i've ever almost cried in. the first was 'blow'. anyways, go see it.
but the other two up there are better than 'return of the king', in my opinion, just because they're simply great movies. and, even though i'm a huge LotR fan, the trilogy can only really be viewed as such, and not seperated.

It's a toss up between LOTR and Big Fish.
LOTR was amazing but Big Fish came out of nowhere.

Heh. That movie was SO bad that it got pulled out of nearly all UK cinemas just days after debuting...many theatres didn't even show it :p
IMO, Return of the King without a doubt. Finding Nemo was great, too.
Who stars in this Big Fish movie? I hope it's released over here soon...

the cast for big fish is actually quite large: ewan mcgregor, albert finney, jessica lange, danny devito, helena bonham carter, steve buscemi, and several others whose names i'm forgetting at the moment, and tim burton directs...
it's such a friggin' good movie. i loved it.
the best horror movie to come out, and i've been thinking about this a lot....has been wrong turn. that movie impressed me so much when i saw it in theatres. if you're a horror lover, see that flick...
I loved the Matrix trilogy.

Do it man, it was great, actually made me jump. BUT NO BOOBIES! THEY FLAUNTED THEM IN SCANTILY CLAD WOMAN FORM THE WHOLE MOVIE, AND NOTHING, THEY DON'T SHOW EVEN ONE! Other than that, fantastic. --~

Lord of the Rings Return of the King. A great movie with some really sweet action scenes. I really like how the trilogy has some humor here and their through out the movie. It makes you feel all tense like "What is going to happen next?" and then suddenly something humorous calms you down.

i don't know if i can go with RotK as best movie this year. there were really great things about it, but as a single movie, it's not all that spectacular, you have to have seen the first two to get into it...so i view the trilogy as just that...three movies in one...
big fish rocks, and i've already stated my first two choices...
bill murray better win a frickin' oscar...and a golden globe would be nice too.
see? it's THIS thread, guys...this one was first.

because it in fact sucked ass! you've got to be crazy to even put it in the same category as some of the greatest films ever made. the first one's great, but the second two sucked COMPLETELY! whatever. you obviously are a loser. and i will NOT back that up with any facts.

Whoa, Pinko Commie indeed!
I will vote for Return of the King, since it is my favorite movie that I have seen in the past year. X2 is second, though. As for the Matrix sequels, there were some good parts, but they were both overall disappointments.
